In 2004 the tragic event that took place in Columbus, Ohio on December 8 inspired a DIY promotions company to recognize and pay tribute to the life of Darrell Lance Abbott and all that he stood for and contributed to the world of music. This year, 2009, the event DWE has done 5 times has survived an ever changing musical landscape in the Midwest and not to mention has been held in 3 cities, 3 different venues, and has had over 59 different marquee bands from all over the midwest region perform at this annual event.
DWE aka DreamWeaver Entertainment Studios Inc carries the metal flag and waves it proudly in their hometown of Omaha, Nebraska.
The Darrell Abbott Memorial Show has become the highlight of the year for DWE and they have always thrived on making the overall best metal show of the year for the local scene in Omaha, Nebraska. Every year DWE spends 6 months ahead of time working with sponsors and advertising clients as well as hand selecting up to 20 bands to perform at the annual event. It has been said by many as cliche as it sounds, that The Darrell Abbott Memorial Show is and was and will always be The Best of the Best in the Entire Midwest!!!!
This year's show held on Saturday August 22, 2009 at Sokol Underground DWE will present The 6th Annual Dimebag Darrell Abbott Memorial/Birthday Bash Show. The show for the second year is being held in conjunction with Darrell Abbott's Birthday instead of day of passing like has been in December. Plus we are celebrating this events sixth year. This is something we are very proud of as it is a huge milestone achievement to us. Everything that you have read above stands to remain the same and then some. DWE began working on this event within 2 weeks after the last one determined to promote and put on literally the BEST Dimebag Memorial Show EVER!!!!
The show will once again feature up to 20 metal bands from all over the midwest and will once again have the promise of every band performing at least one cover in tribute to Dimebag in their set. Another thing that is staying the same is the return of Little Kids Rock as the sole recipient of the net proceeds of this event. Dimebag Darrell had a passion for helping children music educational programs and the Little Kids Rock Organization was his favorite to work with, so it is in his name that we continue that legacy.
