Dimitris Fampas has been Greece's most celebrated classical guitarist-composer and Professor. A student of Andres Segovia and Emilio Pujol in the middle 50s. His artistry reached far beyond the borders of his country and for long he was considered one of the world's leading performers, giving concerts all around the world.
A gifted professor who created some of the most famous Greek guitarists and established the guitar school in Greece. Also acclaimed as a composer he enriched the guitar repertoire with lots of wonderful and original works, suites, preludes, variations, studies and dances mainly influenced by his native country musical tradition.

THE GUITAR FRIENDS ASSOCIATION DIMITRIS FAMPAS a non profit cultural association member of the Hellenic National Council of Music / IMC UNESCO, was founded in 1999 to honor his memory and his great musical personality


A wonderful Guitar Festival is being organized every July in the place where he was born, the traditional villages Lafkos and Milina of the beautiful Pilion Mountain in Greece.
