DimmerSwitch began as an experimental ambient electronica project called Project Spurious, founded trip hop music creator and Roanna. Deciding it would benefit the music to add more instruments, they decided to create a band complete with bass, guitars and drums as opposed to the purely electronic music initially created.
After painstaking changes made in the band members and music, the core group has finally been revealed. What turned out was an interesting mix of genres and racial backgrounds. First joined was Dan Lynch, the current bassist, who hails from Ireland and is at the moment residing in the Philippines. Formerly, played bass for the punk rock band Fun Bobby(now known as Fox Jaw Bounty Hunters) back in Limmerick and performing in crowds of hundreds. Next to join is Juni Devecais, hailing from Canada, and although might look Filipino is in fact part French and unable to speak Tagalog after moving to the country 4 years ago. He has been musically inclined at a very early age and has been a part of many Heavy Metal collaborations and bands (former band Junedog) in Canada. Next to join the group is Mark Gamil, a local of the Philippines and also into Heavy Metal, his drum beats are intense and definitley heavy. When the moment came that Mark Gamil finished his time with the band, DimmerSwitch found a new drummer from Philidelphia/New Jersey and his name is Shaun Hilario. Shaun is Filipino and grew up in the U.S.A., his influences are mainly Progressive Rock/Metal. As for Roanna Ruiz, the vocalist, she is Eurasian with a mix of Latin & American Indian blood. She grew up listening to grunge while studying in California and although the least experienced among the group, she makes up with her lively & energetic performance on stage.
With cultural influences spanning the globe and muscial influences too diverse to enumerate, this international melting pot of musical talent is already surprising, delighting and confusing all who take the time to listen.
