DIM019: (VxPxC) "baked potatoes" cdr - (VxPxC) or Vast Psychedelic Cassettes, was born in Los Angeles in early 2005 when Justin McInteer, Grant Capes, and Tim Goodwillie began creating their improvised music over spiked coffee and days spent skipping work. The tracks on this album, recorded in Los Angeles over a time span of many months, draw together thick, smoky hues of psych heavy improv using a wide range of folksy instrumentation and gloomy effects: campfire psychedelics. - numbered edition of 77 copies NEW!
DIM018: PRELIMINARY SATURATION "hell's mouth" c30 - in may of 2008, preliminary saturation played at an (f)art festival in the Dutch town Helmond. The crowd was though and the organization worse. PS tried to give their best anyway. Hell's Mouth is a literal translation of Helmond; it suited the situation pretty well... - numbered edition of 33 copies NEW!
DIM017: A VIBRANT STRUGGLE "crystal skull meditation" c40 - in September of 2007, Bjerga/Iversen and staplerfahrer stayed a weekend in a cabin in the Norwegian mountains. Isolated from city hassle they recorded a pile of tapes with intense droning and electro-acoustic muckery. This one here is the first in a to be released series of "The Molten Snow Tapes" sessions. Expect more in the future on Gold Soundz, Small Doses a.o. - numbered edition of 33 copies
DIM014: METEK vs. N.STRAHL.N "ancient machineries" cdr - the tracks on this album were recorded from October-November of 2007 in Germany and Sweden by N.STRAHL.N and METEK. Tracks 1, 3, 4, and 6 are based on field recordings and unfinished compositions by METEK, re-arrangend, processed, mixed and recorded by N.STRAHL.N. Tracks 2 and 5 are based on field recordings and loops by N.STRAHL.N, re-arrangend, processed, mixed and recorded by METEK. - numbered edition of 33 copies
DIM013: MUTANT APE "the millwall brick days: early ape recordings vol. one" c60 - this sounds just like a tightly rolled millwall brick, smacked hard in your pretty face! that damn mutant ape did it again... and you can turn the tape over and over again, cuz it's a double a-side, baby - numbered edition of 22 copies
DIM012: STAPLERFAHRER "I'll never be a rock 'n' roll saint: staplerfahrer tourbenefit cdr" cdr - this may, staplerfahrer will be touring the UK together with the jim morrisons and vincent koreman. this cdr is a compilation of his noisier tracks; only available during the tour... so come on over and get one! - numbered edition of 22 copies SOLD OUT!
DIM011: MYSTIFIED "sooth grains" cdr - ""Mystified have been greeted before in these pages, and on their new release they extend their blend of sampling even further. They seem to be doing all: techno rhythms, ambient and noise. Everything is thrown in that sampler of theirs and things groove around - well, of course not in a way that will make your feet move, but in a way that will make your feet tap or your head nod. Head nod music was a category some sort distributor once used to lump this kind of music in and indeed Mystified are head nodders. I can even imagine them making a nice 12" of alternative dance beats some day. The first signs of that have arrived." (FdW - Vital Weekly 590) - numbered edition of 33 copies
DIM010: KENJI SIRATORI "killing machine" cdr - "Each piece is called 'Mantra', and consists of Siratori's deformed voice, speaking Japanese (sheet is in English) over a distorted rumble of sound. That is nice, as it sounds like noise and poetry mixed together. Unless there is a conceptual edge which I don't understand but all the pieces sound more or less the same..." (FdW - Vital Weekly 590) - numbered edition of 33 copies
DIM009: THELMO CRISTOVAM + FERNANDO S. TORRES "s/t" cdr - real-time composition for trumpet, c-melody sax, concert flute, piezos, air-duster and processed feedback.
recorded live at kkfs home studio january 13, 2005. - numbered edition of 33 copies in slim-line dvd case
DIM008: CARL KRUGER "information animals" 3" cdr - "If I didn't know any better I could have thought that Carl Kruger equals Chefkirk, judging by the music. Just like Chefkirk, Kruger likes his noise, and his noise to be rhythmic and his noise to be digital. That's all fine, but, and even with Chefkirk being quiet for at least some weeks, it's all a bit too much in common territory of Chefkirk. Kruger may apply a bit more rhythm occasionally and a bit less noise, well, sometimes, this particular field of music is a well explored one, even with these marginal differences." (FdW - Vital Weekly 569) - numbered edition of 33 copies
DIM007: JAN M IVERSEN "caligula symphony w" cdr - "...even when the start of it is more noise related than we are used from Iversen. But after some six or so minutes the piece moves into more known territories of ambient and drone. Slow and minimal developments, but throughout it keeps changing shape and color and makes this into another quite good release" (FdW - Vital Weekly 562) - numbered edition of 18 copies SOLD OUT!
DIM006: ORIGAMI STATIKA "fucking hell" cdr - "...Origami Statika, which is a collaboration of Resin and Swamps Up Nostrils, whom both had releases on Iversen's Tib Prod label. Here they use the noise idiom to create five dense pieces, which start out nice in 'Buffering' and the following three pieces of digital noise assemblages, but the final 'Reading Between The Lines' is not very well spend on me. Volume goes down and nothing much is done to make this into an interesting piece, but still it takes up half the release. Just the first four would have made a nice, not great, noise statement." (FdW - Vital Weekly 562) - numbered edition of 33 copies, artwork by marcel herms (2 different covers!)
DIM005: CHEFKIRK "anxiety, art & death" cdr - "No political theme here and now, but the start is promising: soft (!), concrete (!) and letting the sounds work their way. Half way through the second track things explode into the usual barrage of noise. The third piece opens with a bass guitar being played freely and some crackling noise, which grow in loudness and aggressiveness. The final piece is again just noise. An interesting release, since it shows us another Chefkirk, one that may be able to change the menu, but it is something he is probably now afraid to do. Let's hope this is a route he will explore" (FdW - Vital Weekly 549) - numbered edition of 33 copies
DIM004: STAPLERFAHRER "twist and press out of shape" cdr - staplerfahrer live at the hoezo expo in eindhoven, the netherlands, on the 17th of december twothousandandfive... - print on demand edition
DIM003: BJERGA/IVERSEN "you, the night and the music" c40 - "Quite a surprise is the format of the Bjerga/Iversen release, a good old cassette, recorded on what seems to be a recycled cassette from a language course. It has to do with the fact that the music was recorded at 'Katrine's summer party' on a cheap children's cassette player (my first phoney no doubt). So something that is already lo-fi, being the music of Bjerga/Iversen is recorded lo-fi and presented back in a lo-fi manner: we are not dealing with high end sound quality here, but it fits the music of Bjerga/Iversen quite well, I must say. The slightly distorted guitars, the obscure sound sources (that might sound even more obscure here than they really were), makes this into a nice, willfully obscure release. Even the package is quite retro too. Very nice release." (FdW - Vital Weekly 549) - numbered edition of 33 copies
DIM002: TORSTEIN WJIIK "toads" cdr - "The overall quality leaves room for improvement, both cover and music. Wjiik uses various instruments, such as guitar, vocals, harmonica, bongos but every ends up on the computer for some final treatment. It's clear that Wjiik loves the noise card. Whatever he does, things always seem to end in a bit of noise, with feedback humming around. Usually a piece starts with controlled banging on a guitar for a while, but then over the course of a piece things go louder and louder, with the oddly named 'Bee Queen' as an exception. The title track is a pure field recording piece. I must say I am not entirely convinced by Wjiik music. Sometimes it is just too randomly improvised, and playing around for the noise card, but never reaches the real harshness of say Merzbow. Style-wise Wjiik may fit better in the New Zealand scene, but also there he wouldn't be crowned king. As a start it's quite alright, nevertheless." (FdW - Vital Weekly 547) - numbered edition of 33 copies
