Dinah Thorpe burst onto the Toronto music scene in May 2008 with the release of her self-titled debut EP. Since then, her beats have induced fevers in dance clubs, while her silvery voice and sweet melodies have brought tears to folk clubs. Happy listeners who were only slightly inebriated have compared her to Annie Lennox and Sinead O'Connor.
Dinah has shared the stage with Buck 65, The Cliks, and Melissa Ferrick. Her past festival performances include: In the Dead of Winter (Halifax), Canadian Music Week (Toronto), Europride (Zurich), Mayworks (Toronto), Ladyfest (Ottawa and Toronto), and Pride Toronto.
If she weren’t so damn tall, Dinah Thorpe would be the proverbial small package: composer, singer, multi-instrumentalist, and sound engineer all in one. Her self-produced EP earned her the title “Best Up and Coming Indie Folk Producer” (Toronto Exclusive Magazine). Dinah is currently working on material for a two-disc album, to be released in the summer of 2009.
