Dino DiNicolo
By John Lucas
The Georgia Straight
Beautiful (Independent)
Yes, there's a song on this self-released CD called ‘Beautiful’, but thank Christ it's not a cover of that James Blunt atrocity so beloved of those with no imagination. Instead, this “Beautiful” is a Dino DiNicolo original, with simple but apparently deeply felt lyrics about viewing the world around you as others see it. Like the rest of the songs on the disc, the track features DiNicolo's vocals, his five-string bass-playing, his foot-stomping percussion, and nothing else.
...“Got the Job”, which starts off with some flamenco-style fretwork and then breaks down into Tuvan-flavoured throat singing before becoming a rapid-fire workshop in slapping funk.
...one thing's for sure: he doesn't sound like anyone else, either in Vancouver or anywhere else.
Dino DiNicolo has been playing music all his life. He started on the electric organ and later left it behind. To the amazement of many, the simple electronic grooves lingered, leaving a lasting impression and early fuel for the rhythmic master. As the electric bass developed into an extension of his hands and his voice a rhythmic center of its own, Dino DiNicolo became a master musician with a groove so deep that it moves the mind, the body and the soul.
Musically, Dino has captivated listeners around the world. With his humility, innate charisma and honest good-looks, he leaves a mark wherever he performs. His career has taken him to the countries of Hawaii, Japan, Grand Cayman and New Zealand and across the continents of Europe and North America. Those people who have heard his music are always wanting more.
He grooves comfortably in many styles of music and has been a contributor to a variety of projects. As a performer, session player and composer, he has worked with – EMI Publishing Canada, Supertonic, Uno Mas, John Parr, Danielle Herbert, Riley and the Rise, Melanie Dekker, Vancouver’s own The Town Pants and Sherry St. Germain.
Dino has also forayed into the movie industry. In addition playing jazz with Michael Moriarty of the show Law and Order. Dino enjoyed the experience of playing a role in the Disney TV show So Weird. His song “Nothing to Fear” was used in a TV pilot Snug as a Bug. He is enjoying the completion of Beautiful a thirteen song CD of original music. Recently he can be seen going to and from the post office notifying festivals all around the world that he wants to play.
The impressive list of accomplishments continues to grow from the man who never stops: Dino DiNicolo.

Hey..... stopping by to show some love to your page...
i am also stopping by to let you know that i am working with a charity that helps underprivilaged kids...
i am selling five songs online and contributing ALL THE PROCEDES to the charity where i will perform for the kids, and then take all of them to SeaWorld for a day of fun...
you can purchase the songs right off my myspace page and it would be a great help. i am already contributing over three thousand personally to the event but taking over 100 kids to SeaWorld with buses and everything is not easy...
Of course i would appreciate the support by buying the music but more importantly i am sure the kids would appreciate it the most.
OK. Any morning next week? I was trying it today, starting with imitating Jack Nicholson. I can tell when it hurts my throat so I back off right away. It's a fascinating exercise.
