Dire Wolf is an extreme metal band from Eugene, OR. They formed in the Spring of 2007 and have been regularly playing shows at local venues. Dire Wolf is a project which strives to maintain an eclectic set of influences and range of sound while simeltaneously attempting to remain true to their death metal roots. At first you may be surprised by the symphonic compositional aspect of Dire Wolf's music, but as you go deeper, you may discover that Dire Wolf is really just four guys who have an insatiable appetite for power and rock.
What does it mean to really be free? Did we agree at birth to follow the rules of society, or is this "social contract" a fallacy perpetuated by the stubborn arrogance of mankind? The name "Dire Wolf" was chosen as a symbol of respect for the cycles of evolution and extinction; the life and death of species and ideas; the finite nature of all existences. The lyrics often engage subjects such as the unbelievable power of nature, as well as the abandonment of hope and trust in human society and a return to a more natural kind of freedom. People must one day learn that we are not the center of the universe and that there are many things infinitely more powerful than our technology and our brains, or we will surely meet an ignominious end.
