Brian Gelina-Lead Guitar/Vocals
Brian has been playing the guitar since the early age of 8. At age 16, he started performing with "Dale Bennett and The Freight Liners." Brian's love for music continued to lead him into a lifetime music career of country and bluegrass music. In addition to Dirigo Highway Brian also performs with The Gelina Family Band and periodically works with other acts both in the studio and on-stage.
Over the past 35 years Brian has performed with many New England Country and Bluegrass acts including The Mainely Country Band (DECMA and NACMAI Vocal Group of the Year-New Country)-ME, Bobby Reed and Wildhorse(DECMA, MCMA, Pine Tree Association, NACMAI Award-Winning Band from Maine), Everard Dodge and Roseanna Rogers(DECMA, MCMA, Pine Tree Association and NACMAI Award Winners), Traditional Heights (DECMA and NACMAI Award-Winning Bluegrass Band from Maine), The Gelina Family (DECMA, MCMA, NACMAI Multi-Award-Winning Bluegrass, Vocal and Gospel Group recipients), End of the Line (Five time Award Winning Band of the Year-NH), Nuthin Fancy-Mass, Dixie Train-NH, Norm & The Storm-Maine, Al Hawkes(Hall of Famer, Country/Bluegrass Pioneer)-ME, Bob Elston-ME, and entertained on a show on Channel 9 in New Hampshire and WABI-TV Channel 5 in Bangor.
Brian's unique guitar picking style was also featured on the official Ricky Craven auto racing song titled "Craven Racin' as well as many other recordings by various artists in the region. In addition to his strong vocals, he continues to expand his variety of style on the guitar as well as the mandolin. Brian has been awarded the Lenny Breau Award for most Outstanding Musician, Instrumentalist of The Year, Soloist of The Year, Male Traditional Country Artist of The Year numerous times by The Down East Country Music Association and Instrumentalist of the Year Award for most Outstanding Guitarist, Horizon Award, "Little Jimmie Dempsey" Award, Bluegrass Artist and Instrumentalist of the Year at the North American Country Music Association International Competitions in Tennessee. He has also been the recipient of numerous awards from The Maine Country Music Association.
Cliff Gelina-Guitar/Vocals
Cliff has been singing since the age of 3. Still in his teen's, he is known as an accomplished mandolin and guitar player, working in several genre's of music. Cliff remained true to the roots of all music, while still learning the other genre's by playing with several different bands throughout; such as Breakin Strings and the Gelina Family bluegrass band. Over the past 10 years in the music business he has won numerous awards such as best vocalist, entertainer and the NACMAI Youth Ambassador award. Cliff's talent is absolutely apparent when he performs and has also been called one of the most gifted song writers around. On stage he continues to lure audiences with his powerful vocals, then blows them back with his musicianship. The most prestigious award that Cliff has been honored with was the 2003 Young Ambassador Award form NACMAI. Cliff has performed at several concerts and festivals with Traditional Heights, Everard Doge and Roseanna Roger and Mainely Country to name a few. At age 13, he performed with Time Farrell and Friends at the 2001 Maine Lobster Festival opening for Terri Clark. In 2007 at NACMAI Week in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee Cliff was named Most Promising Male Vocalist and Male Entertainer in the age 13-18 category, Bluegrass Instrumentalist of the Year, and scored 2 songwriting awards.
Hey Brian!!!!! Long time no hear!! Im living in Vermont and so glad to see you out there playing and so cool that your son has all that talent. Awesome voice!! Gee, I wonder where he gets that from. I was just listening to some of the old Dixietrain stuff and remembering Playing at the Edison Hotel In Lynn Mass and Laughing to myself about the good old days! Drop me a line dude!! Becky
