Dirk Diggler’s Blues Revue.... Goodtime Blues in these Turbulent Times
“Really blues should be the most economically viable music genre during the current downturn” states Dirk Diggler’s Blues Revue vocalist and bass player Darroll ‘Fish’ Wheatley.
It is true that in these somewhat bleak times, in blues music, listeners have something they can relate to, but Dirk Diggler’s Blues Revue aren’t your average R’n’B set up. This UK three piece from Stoke-on-Trent have been hard at work developing their new live set.
Drummer Aaron Gent; “The goodtime blues feel definitely dominates our set list. We want people to have a good time when they see us play”.
“Yeah, we want to help people to forget about the credit crunch for a while and enjoy a good night out. We (the band) went to see Buddy Guy a while back, what a night. I am pretty sure people weren’t bothered at all about the rise of inflation the minute he took the stage. If we can emulate an essence of that then we are on to a winner.” adds Mark ‘Sweety’ Sweetmore (Guitar).
Well it would seem that the lads’ intentions may be coming to fruition. With a set that comprises of old and contemporary blues covers mixed with original compositions, beaming smiles and loud applause from growing audiences seems to equate; Dirk Diggler’s Blues Revue are winning a three man battle against the credit crunch blues.
One of the best British blues bands in the business. If you want to hear quality blues music, these guys have got it all.
It is rare to come across bands like Dirk Diggler’s Blues Revue in the bars and clubs of the UK and is a real treat when you do. Their ability to relate the feel and emotion of the blues to their audience is hard to better.
Their repertoire reads like a ‘Best of the Blues’ compilation: Muddy Waters; Buddy Guy; Little Walter; Sonny Boy Williamson. Lending from their influences, these guys also seamlessly blend their own great blues songs into their performances and deliver their set with a touch rarely achieved this side of Chicago.
All seasoned musicians, Dirk Diggler’s Blues Revue formed purely to play good blues music whilst having a good time. In return, if you come and see them play you won’t go home disappointed.
This is one goodtime blues band that guarantees a great night out.
