About Dirk Leyers

For Dirk Leyers, music has always been instinctive and informative. Getting his hands on instruments at an early age opened a pathway to the innate form of communication that music represents for him.
A move to Cologne in the 90s led to a meeting with Matias Aguayo, together with whom he formed the groundbreaking unit Closer Musik. When that chapter closed, Dirk established his solo project in Berlin and released his “Wellen” EP on Kompakt and the ALMA 12" on Klang Elektronik.
In addition to his solo work, he has pursued collaborations and delivered remixes for artists such as Andre Kraml, Khan, Justus Köhncke, Eric D Clark, Hiem feat. Roots Manuva, Whirlpool Productions, and many more. His releases appear on the finest imprints like FIRM, I m Single, Klang Elektronik, Kompakt, V-Records to mention just a few .
These days he works closely together with Nerk, one half of Toktok, both in the studio and as a live act. There next 12" ATAT will be released in December 2009 on Klang Elektronik. (Klang 139)
Dirk also worked as a composer for the radio play "Auressio" which will be broadcasted by the Bayrische Rundfunk (BR2) in February 2010.
