SHARK PANTS - AUTOMATIC PINNER 7"
Criminally underrated punk rock powerhouse from Tucson, AZ. If there were any justice in the word Shark Pants would be bigger than Jesus while (insert shitty radio rock band here) languishes in obscurity, but there isn't and they aren't, so I guess this will just be our little secret.
P.S. After careful consideration, I think Kung Fool might be the greatest rock song ever written.
SUNDOWNERS - GNOME & GLACIER LP
I'm having trouble describing this one. Punk rock that refuses to be pigeonholed. These Minnapolis Kids take elements of all my favorite records and make them their own. Incredible!
JONESIN'/DUDE JAMS - SPLIT 7"
Jonesin' is ex-Down in the Dumps and picks up right where that band left off. For fans of early 90's east bay punk rock mixed with the gruffness of Leatherface. Dude Jams plays spiteful punk rock that sounds like a mix between "Beat Off" era Queers and Off With Their Heads. (This is a split release with our buddies at Muy Autentico Records)
GET BENT - DEMO 7"
It only took listening to the first few minutes of Get Bent's demo before I was e-mailing the band's bass player Mike Dumps begging him to put something out for them. Now a year later, here I am, with a couple big boxes of 7 inch records of that very same demo (originally released by Dead Broke records as a CD-R and tape), and though the band is likely broken or breaking up, I'm still extremely excited about this release. Get Bent play catchy, anthemic, and sincere pop punk that gets compared to bands like Latterman and Iron Chic, but I think totally stands on its own. I guess I should mention that the band features members of Potboiler, Down in the Dumps, Red & Blue, and Jonesin. (another split release with Dead Broke Records)
DIRT CULT MIX TAPE VOL. II
Unreleased songs from Libyans, Sass Dragons, Dude Jams, Vacation Bible School, Hidden Spots, God Equals Genocide, Nordic Waste, Unwelcome Guests, Tenement, The Brokedowns, Drunk Armstrong, Troublemake, Hairdos on Fire, Dumbag Daryl & the GEG Bags, and more! In other words, holy shit this is good!
UNWELCOME GUESTS - THE PAINTER 7"
I've always thought of Unwelcome Guests as the band Wiclo would be if they played basements and were influenced by punk bands like The Replacements and Jawbreaker as much as they were by Neil Young or Bruce Springsteen. I like all of the above and I also really like Unwelcome Guests. (a split release with Art of the Underground and Feral Kid)
GOD EQUALS GENOCIDE - LIFE OF DOUBT SPECIAL EDITION 7"
God Equals Genocide has finally printed up the limited edition covers for their Life of Doubt EP 7”. The wait was more than worth it. Basically, Adrian of God Equals Genocide hand-carved the cover of the 7” into a piece of wood, Daryl rolled some ink over it, and wham-o, limited-edition paper prints. And it looks fucking awesome! Only 50 of these covers were made. (Keep in mind that since these are handmade, they are all a little different.) Only twenty will be available through Razorcake, twenty through Dirt Cult Records, and ten through the band.
GOD EQUALS GENOCIDE - LIFE OF DOUBT 7"
Life of Doubt is God Equals Genocide’s second release and it’s a natural progression from their This World Is Wearin’ Me Down 7”EP. Think of the cheerful anxiety of the Bananas mixed with the good-natured, stripped-down kit troublemaking of Allergic To Bullshit and This Bike Is A Pipebomb, and you’re in the right spot. A split release with the good people at Razorcake.
JONESIN'/SHANG-A-LANG - SPLIT 7"
Jonesin' is ex-Down in the Dumps and these songs rule. Shang-A-Lang does a Lou Reed cover. Both bands contribute 2 songs for this split which was put out in conjunction with an East Coast tour. Sweet record! A split release with the marvelous Dead Broke Records
SHANG-A-LANG - SUMMERTIME 7"
Second pressing on white wax with white covers.
4-songs of gritty DIY pop punk from Las Cruces! Songs about seasonal depression, saying whatever you feel like saying, giving up on relationships, and questioning why the fuck you even try sometimes. But it's got a good beat and you can dance to it! Split release with Let's Pretend Records
