Steve Parkin
Charismatic yet classic in attitude, quirky yet accomplished in song - Steve Parkin's natural talents as a singer-songwriter are evident both live and on record. With a wealth of experience and success under his belt, Parkin has now formally branched out on a solo path.
Determined to continue on from his successes with previous bands, Autopilot and Steve Parkin and the Foreign Films, as well as, the well-received,, Triple J Unearthed solo LP "Sandytown", Parkin is no stranger to the stage. Having graced the boards this past year with the likes of Josh Pyke, Bob Evans, Dash & Will, Skipping Girl Vinegar as well as a national tour with Eskimo Joe, Steve is looking forward to the release of his new album of vivid yet classic pop songs in 2010.
RTR FM, a big supporter of Steve, is now spinning his new cover of Nada Surf's "Blonde On Blonde" and, for all those keen for a taste of what is to come, a live EP of his acoustic solo set from his Bob Evans support show at Fly By Night is now available at shows.

The Chemist
Lead singer of The Chemist, Ben Witt, has already begun to make a name for himself as a singer, a songwriter and phenomenal guitarist in local hometown Perth, West Australia. Teaming up with fellow music students, Hamish Rahn, James Ireland and Elliot Smith to create ‘The Chemist’ while at the Conservatorium in WA, they entered the prestigious Next Big Thing Competition, won their heat and finished as runners up to the big first prize. Now, over a year on, The Chemist have supported the likes of Birds of Tokyo, End of Fashion, Sugar Army and The Basics, receiving rave reviews. The Chemists’ hallmark song ‘Stars’, originally recorded with Luke Steele from Empire of the Sun, was posted on Triple J unearthed in 2008 and received significant airplay on the national youth broadcaster. As a result of pure natural talent and a captivating live show, The Chemist has since built a solid name for a young band that are definitely one to watch. This was further cemented when the band embarked on a blistering set as a part of the Sonicbids showcase for the One Movement festival in Perth in 2009. What followed this was a personal endorsement from Richard Kingsmill, Music Director at Triple J, selection as an official Next Crop artist and official rotation for the re-recorded version of STARS. With an EP recording in the works in conjunction with the Production stylings of Joel Quartermain from Eskimo Joe with Andy Lawson (Little Birdy, End of Fashion) and Dave Parkin (Snowman, Jebediah) the new material will highlight Witt’s pop sensibilities melded with jazz discordance and creative time signatures. All this is complemented by his resonating vocals. The Chemist’s craftsmanship clearly stands out on record and on the stage.
“They are required viewing for any alt-rock fan, but fans of any genre could appreciate The Chemist’s craftsmanship and imagination….The Chemist feature moments of the blissful absurd, they contrast these phases with fractured pop darkness.” – Xpress Mag
