DirtleWax is an underground hip-hop label that represents the underbelly of the Nottingham music scene. Set up by Dirty M*ther Fucking Joe in 2004, DirtleWax is already three releases deep, 2004’s Nott-Numb EP, 2006’s Dirty Joe: Dirtmatic and 2008's Dirty Joe: Friday the Dirteenth.
The core of the DirtleWax stable consists of Rapper/Producer/DJ/Twat Dirty Joe, 3x regional DMC Champion (2006, 07 & 08) and 2008 UK DMC team member Furious P (part of the Bionic Stylus Crew), Rapper/Alcoholic “Drunkle” Rico, and, Rapper/Percussionist/Arse Kicker The Reddist.
DirtleWax has several projects in the pipeline including Rico’s album ‘Wake Up and Smell the Offie’ (see www.myspace.com/ricoisafacthunt for details). As well as a compilation album featuring the entire DirtleWax family (the Semi-Prose) and numerous funk, soul and hip-hop mixtapes from Nottingham’s most talented DJs and turntablists.

Joe and regular guest Rico boast strong flows as they negotiate the trials of life via Her Majesty’s Social Service. And while the beats bang in a bargain basement fashion, this boasts a persuasive charm uniquely it’s own.
