About The Dirt Merchants

Let's fast forward to college - the tiny spare bedroom in Chico, CA where days were spent meticulously crafting what many claim to be an underground classic. The Dirt Merchants' first album is a seamless blend of raw production, clean cuts, and nasty emceeing. "Something From Nothing" was just that a remarkable display of independent music that came out of nowhere.

After the release of their debut album The Dirt Merchants did what every hip hop group talks about. They hustled. They began performing on the West coast and opening up for the artists they grew up listening to. As the group continued the grind, their schedules became increasingly harder to maintain. It would be another 3 years before The Dirt Merchants would be settled and able to record their second album.

Amidst this three year stretch - Bennett found time to do outside production work. He began working on The Black Ice project with Silas, an emcee from Vallejo, CA; the connection was immediate. It wasn't long before Madix and Silas were collaborating on records and in early 2008, Silas officially joined The Dirt Merchants as its fourth member. An incredible writer and explosive stage personality, Silas brings a new element and perspective to The Dirt Merchants, placing them in a more dominate position than ever before.

The Dirt Merchants released their new mixtape "Show Me The Way" on January 12th, 2009. The sophomore release of the Dirt Merchants will hit stores in Summer of 2009 and be followed with a tour schedule in conjunction with the new album.
