Dirt Road Radio first aired in February 2004 on KSWI-FM 95.7 in Atlantic, Iowa, leading off with String Cheese Incident's "Wake Up." For one hour every Sunday, the normally restrictive commercial radio world was transformed into a free form mix of indie rock, jam, blues, world, americana, chill-out, bluegrass and jazz. All those songs that "should" be on the radio, finally got to be on the radio. And the surprisingly diverse Iowa music scene got it's due as well.
In February 2008 Dirt Road Radio debuted on KFMG-FM 99.1 in Iowa's capitol city of Des Moines. Now airing from 6-8pm every Monday, Dirt Road Radio continues to explore the wide world of new music; regional, national and international.
