Dirty Avenues are an alternative rock band formed in Manchester, England early 2005.
Drummer Ryan Cowburn, guitarist Andy Dainton and bassist Martin Pagan originally formed the band.
Soon after the formation of the band Andy Marsden was brought in to provide vocals to a rapidly progressing trio. Following 6 months of writing and a recording of the single Wiskey Rose vocalist Andy left the band, and so the task of searching for the ideal vocalist and front man had started.
After 2 months of non-productive auditions the road started to look uncertain, until a wet Sunday afternoon meeting over a Starbucks "mocha" lead to Vocalist Chris Niebel joining the band after the recent breakup of his previous band Mirbeau.
During the first rehearsal it was obvious that the band had gained an energy it had not previously experienced. Fresh material began to develop, and a new powerful melodic sound evolved.
Within 3 months the band where in the studio recording their second single "in the light", with engineer/producer Niel Treppas at the helm.
In October of 2007 a major blow was suffered when Drummer Ryan Cowburn announced he was stepping down from the band to follow his dream to go travelling.
So again, the search was on to find a new member of the band. Numerous drummers where auditioned, but none ever seemed to fit the bill. Luck struck the band in early 2008 when Dave Ferrier called the band for an audition, the jamming session went better than anyone could have foreseen. The bond between Dave and the rest of the band was immediate and powerful; “finally” says Chris “we have line up that has the potential to make great music”.
