About me: I was a town centre public house and music venue in Walsall 1967-1979 called the Dirty Duck, the Duck, the Berni, the Keller, and many other names; formerly the Stork Inn, later the Black Swan and Studio nightclub.
I was a meeting place for people of all ages and interests from all over the borough, the Midlands, the country and the world.
I had severn different bars including the Cotswold, Stable, Saxon, Restaurant, Bridle and the Doubles bar.
But best of all I had a cellar bar called the Bier Keller, where there was a rock music disco on a Friday and Saturday night. Weekends I had a couple of gorgeous go-go dancers! I used to have live bands:did you ever do a gig in the Duck, upstairs maybe?
The Keller was closed in about 1977, The Duck struggled on without it. The place has since passed into West Midlands folklore.
Who I'd like to meet: Anyone that remembers me with affection.
Have you any old photographs or stories you could share? Skol lager, Lowenbrau, Gold label barley wine, really bad Ansells bitter, Brut and Charlie. Peace and Love. Great Christmases and awesome New Year's eves.
I miss you all.
