I am just an average person who was in
above-average health until I went into one of the 'top-rated' hospitals in ..Southern California.. for a minor 'routine' surgery.A two day stay in the hospital turned into
several months and almost cost me my life and limb...literally!....
During my trip to the OR I contracted
the dangerous Antibiotic Resistant Superbug, that
causesNECROTIZINGFACSIITISor as it is
more commonly known..."MAN-EATING FLESH
DISEASE." ....
Originally termed "hospital
gangrene," Necrotizing Fasciitis has a long
history. During the Civil War, a confederate surgeon named Joseph Jones began
recording incidents of hospital gangrene.Necrotizing fasciitis has also been called "acute infective gangrene" and
"streptococcal toxic shock
syndrome."....
There is a higher mortality rate when
the head, neck, chest, or abdomen are
involved. These areas are more difficult to treat, and critical structures
reside within them. AND OF COURSE THAT IS WHERE I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO HAVE IT!!....
Now I am making it MY ....MISSION.... to inform the masses about the 'dirty
little secret' I've learned the hard way that hospitals don't want you to
know.....
The
Centers For Disease Control
(CDC) estimates that over 90,000 people a year die from infections they get in
the hospital while receiving medical care. ....
This should
be unacceptable in America in 2007!
Who I'd like to meet:
Other BRAVE SURVIVORS of Necrotizing Fasciitis, MRSA, Sepsis and other HOSPITAL-ACQUIRED INFECTIONS. My heart goes out to the families of those who did not make it this time and are now resting with the Angels. We remember and honor them as we fight to save new lives. Please join us as a friend. Feel free to share some of your story in our comments. God Bless you!
The United States is ranked #37 as a health system by the World Health Organization.
“The U.S. health system spends a higher portion of its gross domestic product than any
other country but RANKS 37 OUT OF 191 COUNTRIES according to its performance, the report finds.”
I loved the information on your page. While I suffered ARDS-Acute Respiratory Arrest Syndrome I caught double pnuemonia, MRSA sepsis, none of which I had upon entering the hospital. Please keep up the good work keeping people informed!!!
