Sounds Like
I'd like to think it sounds like Joe Strummers less talented, unknown younger New zealand Brother; who took atittude lessons from Henry Rollins, singing lessons from the King (Iggy... not elvis), Joey Ramone, Neil young, Phil Anselmo, Chris Cornell and John Lydon. And then got some song writting tips from Neil Young, Big Brother Joe and Dave Dobbyn. With some guitar lessons thrown in by Zakk wylde, Dave Mustaine, and Dimebag....That would be awesome... cause you don't need to go any further than these people. They are the real deal.
But in all reality... it just sounds like me.
..
I 'cut my teeth', with a bunch of yell'n scream'n metal and punk bands during the 90's. Had a great time doing that stuff... started in 1991 with Freakshow '57, included Lung Butter Inc, and The Bakunin Syndicate along the way, and finished with El Diablo and the Chops in 2005.
I played bass in experimental funk, rock, soul band...Moksha from 1998 until 2001 with three beautiful musicians and people... Thanks guys, I love u, you rule forever! The name Moksha continued in varying forms after the original 4 piece exploded in late 2001, with me on vocals and guitar... but it was a completely different beast. "Quiet Road" is a Moksha recording from this era of the band.
By 2005 trying to hold bands together, just got too tiring... So I thought 'I'd just do some of my own stuff. I did some 6 track recordings in 2004 in a small smokey room in Andersons Bay,which later became the "Hate Me" C.D. D.I.Y for real! I had always listened to Neil Young, Mr Cash, Dave Dobbyn and cats like that, I was never a conservative bogan in terms of my musical tastes. I guess that's where those songs came from.
Thanks Dunedin... Anyway thats me.

thank you
i appreciate that.
I like your songs but think you have done an especially good job on mixing it. sounds like you might not have amazing gear (nor do I) but have used what you have got creatively and interestingly.
well done.
thanks for giving them away!
Francis
oh yeah - this is soul food today - not sure what the track is (the players not telling me) but its full of big lush twelve string acoustics and congo/hand percussion - with a melody all angst and bittersweet - just like me today - thanks for dropping by and sharing this stuff
