Crossword puzzles. Writing songs. Spending time with my boyfriend Chris, walking through the Castro on a sunny day or a rainy afternoon, holding his hand and laughing. Tom Kha Gai coconut thai soup. Finding new reasons to love living in San Francisco.
Music
Showtunes. It's my religion. What can I say? I love big bands and swing and 40s crooners (Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Perry Como, Bobby Darin). I love country & western music (again with the good story telling) and we love to two step. I do a mean Tush Push myself.
Movies
I rarely get to see movies in theaters anymore. THe only thing I've seen lately was "Sweeney Todd." (Kinda loved it, even with Helena, though I dream that someday they will digitally replace her with Tracey Ullman). I loved "The Devil Wears Prada" and "The Queen" and "Pan's Labyrinth" last year. Guilty pleasure: "Sky High". Movies I Can and Will Watch Again and Again: "Victor/Victoria", "Nine to Five," "Waiting for Guffman," "Cabaret", "Princess Bride", "The Incredibles", "An American Werewolf in London" and "Clue" (plus ANYTHING with Madeline Kahn):
Television
HEROES, PROJECT RUNWAY, DEXTER, UGLY BETTY, BBC COMEDIES, NINJA WARRIOR, NATURE SPECIALS (ESPECIALLY PLANET EARTH OR ANTYHING ABOUT THE COSMOS OR MONKEYS), THE DAILY SHOW
I also miss those 1970s talk shows (Dinah Shore/Dick Cavett/Mike Douglas/Merv Griffin) where the guests weren't plugging or selling a book or show or movie or record but just had interesting things to say and were great conversationalists in interesting pairings ...
Books
I love good story-telling: the "Tales of the City" saga, the HeeChee/Gateway books, Harry Potter (Wizard of Oz/Jesus/Oliver magic messiah hybrid anyone?), auto- & biographies, entertainment history, Tom Robbins; as a kid: "The Phantom Tollbooth", "Harriet The Spy"
currently reading: "Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norell" by Susanna Clarke
the complete Dorothy Parker and a book about the zombie wars
Heroes
Stephen Sondheim, Leonard Bernstein, Jerome Robbins, Harold Prince, Mr. George Abbott, David Merrick, Bob Fosse, John Kander, Fred Ebb, Richard Rodgers, Oscar Hammerstein II, Lorenz Hart, Cole Porter, Noel Coward, Jerry Herman, Stephen Schwartz, Howard Ashman & Alan Menken, Gerard Alessandrini, Betty Comden, Adolph Green, Lynn Ahrens, Stephen Flaherty, Frank Loesser, Frederick Loewe, Alan Jay Lerner, Cy Coleman, Carolyn Leigh, Dorothy Parker, Al Parker, Madeline Kahn, Judy Holliday, Eddie Izzard, Gene Kelly, Tim Gunn, my friend Dennis Stowe Jr., Wm. Jefferson Clinton, for being a Rhoads Scholar, playing the saxophone and getting his job done while still taking time to get a BJ ... the man had priorities. Oh, and Lois Bromfield:

A PERFECT WORLD
to the tune of "A Whole New World" from Disney's Aladdin
music by Alan Menken
original lyrics by Howard Ashman
parody lyrics by Tom Orr
HOW CAN YOU COMPREHEND
JUST HOW MUCH I ADORE YOU?
I'D DO ANYTHING FOR YOU!
YOU'RE MY GORGEOUS GALAHAD!
NO MORE "ROOMMATE" OR "FRIEND" ...
MY SIGNIFICANT OTHER!
I'LL TAKE YOU HOME TO MEET MOTHER
AND MY BROTHER AND MY DAD!
A PERFECT WORLD!
WITH MY SUPPORTIVE RELATIVES!
IF SHE LIVES AND LETS LIVE,
WHO GIVES A DAMN
IF GRAMMA GIVES US HER BLESSING?
A PERFECT WORLD!
WHERE NO ONE GETS TO DISAPPROVE!
AND YOU'VE A RIGHT TO THIS:
IT'S GUARANTEED!
NO NEED TO KEEP 'EM GUESSING ANYMORE!
LIVING IN A PERFECT WORLD WITH YOU!
AS HE LIES IN MY ARMS,
MY HORIZON IS BOUNDLESS:
YEARS AND YEARS OF THEIR GROUNDLESS FEARS
JUST DISAPPEAR LIKE THAT!
A PERFECT WORLD!
SEE THE PRIZE IN OUR REACH!
EACH PERSON CHOOSING WHOM TO LOVE ...
AND WE'RE JUST GETTING STARTED!
WE'LL PUT AN END TO HATE
AND CELEBRATE
THIS OPEN-HEARTED PICTURE POSTCARD VIEW!
A PERFECT WORLD!
AND IT'S ALL BY DESIGN!
A FINE FANTASTIC PLAN UNFURLED!
AND IT'S FINALLY UNFOLDING!
THE WHOLE WORLD UNDERSTANDS
THAT HOLDING HANDS
IS WHAT MAKES LIFE WORTH LIVING WITH YOU!
[dance break]
A PERFECT WORLD!
DON'T YOU FEEL JUST DIVINE?
A WORLD TOO PERFECT TO BELIEVE!
IN THIS IDYLLIC SETTING?
IS IT NAIVE TO THINK
WE'RE ON THE BRINK
OF FORGETTING AND FORGIVING?
A PERFECT WORLD! / A PERFECT WORLD!
A PERFECT PLACE! / A PERFECT PLACE!
WITH PERFECT DAYS / FOR STRAIGHTS AND GAYS ...
AND YOU AND ME!
WOW! It has been a long time since I updated my profile!
I'm an entertainer: lyricist-at-large, singer, actor, stand-up comic, producer, director and San Francisco's original "musical-comedy-cabaret-porn-star."
I just closed the 2008 Summer Cabaret Series at New Conservatory Theatre Center (NCTC) here in San Francisco with my latest solo show, called "I FEEL A THONG COMING ON!" It was a big hit and they've already asked me back to do another cabaret act next summer!
During the show I gave the audience permission to film any portion they pleased, and now the first shaky, blurry camera-phone footage has been released on YouTube! Soon I'll post better clips from the professional video we had done, but until I get the DVD, these will have to do:
"I ENJOY BEING A 'GIRL'!" aka "EMAIL FEMALE":
"THE GAY MARRIAGE MEDLEY":
"I AM THE VERY MODEL OF A MODERN HOMOSEXUAL":
A friend saw this clip of me on YouTube, from back in March when I was an extra in the Gay Pride scene at City Hall for the Harvey Milk biopic MILK directed by Gus Van Sant, which is set to open December 5, 2008:
Who I'd like to meet: Generous Theatre Patrons and Broadway Angels who "get" what I'm doing and want to invest in me and (by extension) my shows. Producers & Artistic Directors from Queer Arts Organizations, Theaters, Cabarets or Other Entertainment Venues. Future Collaborators, specifically original "Broadway" composers who won't say, "Great lyric! How does it go?"
omg. OMG. are you ready? No really. are you? ARE YOU??????? ok. here it is:
it's like someone connected our minds! And threw in the bonus since it's a child- (Seeing that I LOVE CHILDREN SOOOO MUCH!) omg omg...not...getting...over...this for a long time.
