Born in the country and raised in the city, the Dirty Old Dogs combine traditional country music, rockabilly guitar and hillbilly harmonies over Swing Jazz grooves. The result is a hard swinging hoe down that all dancers can relate to. In an effort to connect the band’s rural roots with their urban existence, they play a broad range of songs from the classic country of Johnny Cash and Lefty Frizzell, to the more contemporary western swing of Jolie Holland, Gillian Welch and Bill Frisell.
The rhythm section of the band has been playing together for the last 16 years and won Triple J Unearthed with their band ‘Humbug’ in 1995.
During the previous 10 years Kimba and Ryan have also taken their highly acclaimed duo ‘Swingin’ Both Ways’ and band ‘The Gin Remedy’ to international audiences at the Edinburgh Festival and to Japan.
Ben was also the drummer in the highly successful ’The Counterfeit Gypsies’ from 2004-2008.
Cool man, me too. Carmen tells me that you're doing the NEIS course soon. Good Luck, it's pretty easy to get through it. Just like eating an elephant: one piece at a time. See ya Charlie
