I edited my profile with Thomas Myspace Editor V4.4 (www.strikefile.com/myspace)http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=7ZBya56jxKMPatrick Walsh is a 38 year old writer/
musician
who lives in Peterborough, Ontario...Walsh has been performing as a singer/songwriter since 1991, making his debut performance at the long gone 1950's Cafe in Oakville, Ontario... since then, along with pursuing a career as a solo artist, Patrick has played in many bands and ensembles including The Diplomats, The Jackson Sanatorium, SOWFI, Joe Buck, Wine With Everything, The Fontanels, The Friday Knights and The Silver Hearts, to name a few...Patrick has released about 15 or so collections of his songs and music over the last decade and continues to work with the greatest and smallest record label in the world, Backlash Projects, which has been documenting the Peterborough downtown music scene since 1993...Patrick's latest recording on Backlash is the 2005 ep "Behind The Shade"...Patrick was the first featured artist on www.radiofreepeterborough.ca and you can link to that site to hear his entire discography in a continuous stream 24 hours a day...Exclaim! Magazine's Michael barclay described Walsh's 1998 release "Broken Chair" as "spooky gutter folk"...Walsh's latest recording is a cassette only release entitled "Rocketships and Rainbows" and is on the new Peterborough based Bareknuckle Records...Patrick has performed as a solo artist or with one of his many ensembles across Canada, through parts of the Southern US and in Holland and England...from the Indian River Trailer Park to the Vancouver Folk Festival...from busking on Beale Street to flying overseas to play to ten people in a divey Amsterdam hotel...Patrick will pretty much play any gig that comes his way...Patrick is also an accompished playwright and performance artist and has written and seen productions of roughly 30 of his original stage scripts.
His first book entitled " Three Plays--Dae For Non, Playpen, Res Ispa Loquitur" was published by Ordinary Press in 1995. His most recent theatrical endeavours include two productions of his play "Shadows Throw Missiles" directed by Esther Vincent 1n 2004/5 as part of the Peterborough Next Festival (2004-kinda like a Fringe Festival) and Emergency ..13 (2005-an annual festival of dance and performance art) and a production of his piece "I Was A Postcard" also part of Emergency ..13)...in 2007, Matt Gilbert performed the second production of Walsh's take on King Lear, simply entitled King...the play took place in an old dirty parking lot (the first production was in the middle of a compost heap behind a bar in 1997)...in 2008, his 1994 play
'Dae For Non"
saw it's third production , and was then made into a short film in 2009 by Brian "guythehood" Mitolo...Patrick has also done spoken word/poetry performances in Peterborough, Toronto, Montreal, London, Stratford and Hamilton and has been involved in the DIY literary underground for about twenty years, publishing fanzines in the 80's such as The Cockroach and Warehouse of Strangers, along with numerous chapbooks of writing throughout the 90's...Walsh has also worked as a rock journalist and editor for local fanzine The Hunter Street Hummer (rip)...Walsh's writing has appeared in various literary and music fanzines and community periodicals, and three of Walsh's poems appear in the paperback anthology of Peterborough writers "There's Something Terrible About a Collection of Guitars" published by Word Works...when describing Walsh's songwriting, often comparisons to artists such as Tom Waits, Shane McGowan, Lenoard Cohen and Johnny Cash are made..Patrick's songs are gutteral, simple and edgy...ranging from soft waltzes strummed on a ukulele to raging rock and roll played on a three times rebuilt SG, Walsh tries to incorporate many influences from the seediest and most soulful sides of north american music from the last 60 years into his raw and simple bare bones three chord style. You can find his 2003 release "Burnt by the Sun Scared by the Thunder" at www.zunior.com...Patrick also plays a borrowed tambourine in the rock and roll band Sun Rarara, Plays harmonica for The Silver Hearts, sings lead vocal for the La Veyan Satanic Black Metal band ADDV, and sings and plays guitar for The Diplomats...

Following the resounding success of the first ever Bareknuckle Record Company Garage Rock and BBQ Jubilee held last September, Bareknuckle Records has decided to organize the second annual Garage Rock and BBQ Jubilee! This event, sponsored by Labatt’s brewery, takes place on Saturday September 6th at the Pig’s Ear Tavern on Brock Street in downtown Peterborough. This event starts at two with live music on the patio of the Pig’s Ear till dusk when the music shifts indoors. Expect more than a dozen musical acts to take the stage. Acts are still being confirmed and the line-up will be announced shortly.
This musical celebration, inspired by musical festivals of the deep south, was designed to showcase the local rock scene that has tremendous talent! There will something for everyone! Blues, surf rock, hard rock, melodic rock, pop rock, indie rock and punk rock!
In addition, Muddy’s Pit BBQ will be cooking authentic BBQ for this event with his portable BBQ smoker, serving up some of the best smoked BBQ this side of the border! Ribs, pulled pork and beef brisket are on the menu this year. Get there early before they sell out (which indeed they did last year!)!
The Jubilee line up is still to be finalized but bands confirmed to be participating in this first time event include:
Sun Rarara Lair of Sleeping Panther Burnt Toast The Last Men on Earth Rippin’ Donnies The Diplomats The Venisons A Paltry Sum Weird Weather and more bands to be announced
Special Guests include: Mississippi Grover (from Kingston ON) The Robots (from Oshawa ON)
Tickets are $7 in advance at the Spill and Bluestreak Records (both locations on George Street in downtown Peterborough) and tickets will be available for $10 at the door.
More information is to follow, including band schedule, more band announcements and more information.
