Rock'n'roll, cool movies, good literature and trashy pulp fiction, food and beer, food and wine, vodka and whisky, and some more rock'n'roll. I also love my bicycle.
Music
The Sonics, The Sex Pistols, The Monks, Little Richard, The Buzzcocks, Cannibal and the Headhunters, Eddie Cochran, Sam and Dave, Thee Midniters, The Beat ("Rock'n'Roll Girl"), Wilson Pickett, Mitch Rider, Billy Childish, The Mummies, Hollywood Sinners, The Branded, Muck & the Mires, Los Peyotes, Thee Vicars, The Federals...
Movies
Mama Roma, Psych Out, I Vitelloni, anything with Mae West, Klaus Kinski, Peter Lorri... Erm... Anything directed by Aki Kurismaki, most Fellini, some Pasolini. I need to do this stuff when I'm not hungover. Hmmm...
Television
The Simpsons. Er... Family Guy. That's about it. The new Dr Who was okay actually. None of that so-called 'reality' nonsense.
Books
All sorts. I've rather enjoyed my 1951 edition of HV Morton's "In Search of London". "Die Mittle Der Welt" by Andreas Steinhöfel was rather good. A guide on bicycle maintenance has come in useful. "Riot on Sunset Strip: Rock'n'Roll's Last Stand in Hollywood" by Dominic Priore (Jawbone Press) is fascinating... Am currently on The FALLen by David Simpson, where the author tracks down every former member of The Fall.
Heroes
I'm pretty much a misanthrope, I think, actually. I tolerate other people and sometimes come to like them. But I wouldn't look up to anyone as a hero. There are people who I admire. But that's not the same thing at all as "hero". But I agree with Mr David Viner that Austin Vince is one cool dude.
Dirty Water ~ Live First Capital Connect are thieving bastards. They take your money and then tell you that there are no trains running. Give me my money back! Posted at 10:32 AM Nov 16 view more
About me: The DIRTY WATER CLUB nights were at THE BOSTON in TUFNELL PARK (conveniently located just across the street from the underground station of the same name) in NORTH LONDON since October 1996. (Note that there is no connection to other clubs, in Australia and Italy, of the same name. We were there first!) However, The Dirty Water Club ended on Friday 19 June with legendary sixties garage band GONN supported by The Masonics and Speak & the Spells... There will be occasional gigs happening after that, organised by Dirty Water Records instead (who have taken over this Myspace for their live events), but not every single Friday as the Dirty Water Club was doing, just very occasionally, and then mostly as showcases for bands on our label. Cheers for the comment. I've been having a somewhat nostalgic look through my record collection since starting this night up, Being Followed is an absolute tune.
Lani Ford of STARK will play solo acoustic dates in London and beyond. Hope and Anchor Nov. 15th. Check myspace or website for other dates and venues. Hope to see you! Thanks and rock on,
Hey hey, apologies for the woefully late comment back. I'm gonna blame it on late nights, booze and partying but it's more bone-idleness and the fact that we rarely ever check this thing! Was a great weekend in Nottingham and great chatting to you, although I've got a feeling that neither me nor Boardy managed to give you a copy of the album even though we both had pockets full of them! If you fire your address over in a message I'll get one posted to you.
for as soon as possible. We wish to go. aside to play with the Vicars, phenomenal, tocan chingon. or when we're invited. There are many very good bands over there. Mexican health in our Mexican night. This is the day Mexico. Long live English band.
