About me: DISATERPIECE THEATRE YOUTUBE PAGE!
...... Disasterpiece Theatre was the early eighties bad movie show hosted by the infamous Sal U. Lloyd on San Diego television. Live from Tijuana, Mexico, Sal drove his signiture Edsel car into the studio and did his worst to sicken and entertain with skits built around the terrible features he hosted. Such gems as "Shriek of the Mutilated", "Monster on Campus", "The Thing That Couldn't Die", "The Mummy's Hand", "Born to Speed", "Big Boy Rides Again", "First Spaceship on Venus" and "Curse of the Undead" were among the terrible features that were subjected to the Disasterpiece Theatre treatment. Sections of the movies were redubbed, new music was added, messages were run at the bottom of the screen commenting on the bad acting, production values and direction or supplying random thoughts for mute Igor type characters. Between movie segments Sal U. Lloyd (Jay Curtis) added commentary, was involved in skits reflecting the themes of the film and interviewed The Other Guy (Bruce Meuller) who played such luminaries as Jonny Cabeza (just a head who played all the severed heads in the movies), Mickey Su - a boy named Su who was a comedy matial arts expert, Director George Mucus, The Mummy with a bad wrap, The Lion Tamer without a Lion, Dan Rathernot, etc. Announce was supplied by San Diego radio personality Gary Cocker. Real guests included Woopie Goldberg, Michael J. Strazinski (Deep Space Nine), Michael Medved (conservative columist), Larry the Knife Thrower (almost circumcised Sal) and weight loss guru Richard Simmons.
Watch the videos yourself and experience television at a new all time low!
Who I'd like to meet: The ghosts of Edward D. Wood, "One Shot" Beaudine, Tor Johnson, Vampira, Criswell and the guy who played the professor in Shriek of the Mutilated.
Thanks for the add Sal, huge fan of the show from the 80s. I'm reading below that Gary Cocker died? How sad, he was a San Diego institution. Keep on posting the old episodes here and on youtube!

Legend has it this is more what Richard O'Brien wanted the famous opening to be like, but it didn't go over with test audiences. Unfortunately, this is NOT the original footage, presumed lost. It's someone's rather crudely done concept of what it might've looked like...
Hell no! I grew up in San Diego and remember waiting all week for this show! Say what you will about Elvira and MST3K, *this* was the pioneer that showed them the way!
Come on now! I know MySpace is largely a kiddie site, but am I the only one around here who remembers this amazing, pioneering show?! My God, I knew people who threw weekly parties around it! Even Sal's promos were ABSOLUTELY HYSTERICAL!!!
And I STILL say the MST3K morons ripped him off...
