Rock and roll (sensing a theme here?) I do listen to other formats, but I guess my musical tastes remain stuck in the seventies.
Movies
Anything that provides a good escape for a couple of hours. Lots of senseless violence and gratuitous female nudity sure doesn't hurt.
I am far too macho to admit to liking sappy romances like "Music & Lyrics"
Television
Don't watch much-trying to hold onto my streak of having never seen a reality show. I do miss the Highlander series, though.
Books
Mystery. Used to read sci-fi and fantasy, but I guess the imagination has dwindled in my old age (maybe all that rock music is polluting my brain-what if my father was right?)
Heroes
I'm not much into hero worship, but I do admire Arnold Schwarzenegger mainly because every time he's tried something new he's told he'll fail and he never does.
About me:
I started this page to post reviews of new music and with any luck maybe help musicians sell a few albums.
If you like what I say in a review, support the musician, and please buy the record.
Support your local independent record store, and why not dust off that old turntable and plug it in and listen to some music old school!
And remember-no matter what iTunes wants you to believe, you can't gift wrap a download.
Music fans in Arizona-most of the titles I opine on can be purchased at Zia Records(www.ziarecords.com)on CD, or for vinyl, try Revolver (www.myspace.com/revolver_records)
I also have a blog at:
http://discconnected.blogspot.com/
Who I'd like to meet:
If you're a band with a CD and want to get a copy to me, I'll take a listen and if I like what I hear, write a review.
The review will post on my blog, and on the Pop Culture Madness site as well as on sites where the CD may be offered for sale (Amazon, CD Baby, etc).
E-mail me and I'll provide the mailing information.
If you're a rock fan, add me as a friend and I'll let you know when I post new reviews to the blog. I also would appreciate your comments, whether on the blog or via e-mail.
If I send you a request to add me as a friend, you're either in the music biz or your profile made me think you're a fan. You won't receive spam from me-I'll send an e-mail every week or so letting you know what new reviews have been posted.
And if you like my blog, please spread the word to others to add me to their friends list. The more people who hear about new music, the better.
I would like to share with you something I was moved to write::
I hope you are doing great my friends... and i hope you are copeing with MJ's flight into the heavens.... We are all sadden and hurt.. but we must keep the faith.. as Michael Says, and keep going and show how he has touched our lives. I'am proud to be a Michael Jackson Fan...from the beginning to the end.. i have never lost faith in Mike and i never will... Please allow me to walk beside Michael and be like a shadow to him... I'am happy that individuals feel that i sound like him,, and remind them of his sweet voice... But there is only one Michael Jackson, and their will never be another... He's a icon of epic porportions... I'am glad to of been the generation that got to see him up close and witness his magic... I'am always thinking of you Michael day and night.. and i only hope you are looking down on us, and never leave us alone....for we are not alone... You have givin us the opportunity to see the limits of Gods power when he bless someone with a Gift... You are surely a work of Art, a Masterpiece that is glorious to behold. Your entire body would execute moves that would boggle the mind... and dazzle one's eyes. How can we not watch you when you are in your Zone... The Stage bow down to you , and the Mic sings your praises.. We have heard you and we believe you were from God... and have returned to live forever in his kindom. I can almost see the angels saluting you as you walked thru the gates of heavens.. i hear the applouds of every angle in heaven as you walked towards God to recieve your crown, and your robe made of light. You are home now.... and we will see you soon... Love Marion Pharoah dont forget to enter into my contest see my Bulletin...
