About me:
Hello! : ) And welcome to the disc golf movie website!
The goal of this website is to keep people informed and talking to each other about this movie that we hope to make.
The purpose of the movie is to raise awareness of disc golf and promote it as a sport that almost anyone can play and enjoy.
What kind of movie will it be? I would like to make a comedy, similar to Happy Gilmore, or Caddyshack. I would like for it to be PG so that everyone of all age groups can enjoy it. I also want to make this movie actually GOOD as a movie. A movie that anyone can enjoy, even if they are not into disc golf. I would like for it to be scripted, planned, well lit, and have a great soundtrack. For a sample of the soundtrack, visit:

This movie will not come even close to happening if it doesn't have a TON of support from the disc golf community so everybody needs everyone's support.
Okay, so how can we support this?
1. We need Signatures and email addresses (emails kept private)
Signatures and emails show that there is interest in the movie, and that people are willing to support it. You can help with this by posting a notepad at the golf course where you play so people can sign it. Just copy an print this information and tape it to the front of the paper pad. When the pad gets full, or you get a full sheet or two, mail them to my address below.
2. You can also help by telling your friends and the people you play disc golf with about the movie.
It's impossible for us to gain support if we do not work at it. I am only one person, but together we can be thousands strong.
3. Participation
Cast and Crew. Movies are made by actors and crew. The writer/director just guides things along, but the actors and crew are the ones actually "making" the movie. We need to band together and tap into our talent and labor resources. If you have friends that are actors, or you can be on set to help direct people traffic, help extras sign release forms, whatever. It takes a lot of people to make a movie, and EVERYONE is vital in the process.
4. What if I don't live in Texas, or even close to it?
That doesn't matter. This project needs to be supported by disc golfers from all over the U.S. and maybe even world wide. You can help by sending $10 to the address listed below. If 5,000 people send $10 each, we would have $50,000 to make a movie! Or if you know someone who wants their business or product featured in the movie in exchange for their financial support, it can be arranged.
Okay, so what's in it for us... the fans and supporters?
How many movies have you helped make? How many movies have you helped finance? Wouldn't it be cool to say you participated in making a movie happen?
"So if I send $10, what do I get?" Your name will be listed at the end of the movie along with everyone else who helped make the movie happen.

So how am I (Coby Marcum) helping in this movie process?
I plan on writing and directing the movie as well as shooting, editing and scoring the movie.
So now that we have a writer, a director, actors, a crew etc, what's missing?
Financing. Yes, cameras, mics, props and editing workstations don't grow on trees, but it would be nice if they did.
So how can we get financing?
My goal is to get it through advertising revenue from Disc Golf Manufacturers and from you, the fans supporting the movie. When you send in signatures with emails, you are telling investors that there is a market for this movie. With signatures we are showing them that people (you), will actually see the movie, and see the products that are promoted in the movie. An investor won't give us a penny if there is not something in it for them financially. But the good thing is, the more support we show as a community, the more likely investors will be to support the movie financially.
I have been talking to Innova, Discraft, Quest, Wham-O, and others about investing in this movie, and some of the things that they ask are "how do we know people will see the movie?" "How do we know that the movie project will keep rolling until it's finished so we don't lose our investment?"
By showing support for this movie, and being a myspace friend to this website, you are showing investors that they are wise to invest in this movie, and that the movie will have fans and support during and after completion.
In a perfect world, money would fall from the sky and we could start making the movie tomorrow, but I haven't found that hole in the sky yet, and until I do, we have to do our best to make this movie happen.
I think disc golf is a great, healthy sport that I want to share with more people. I also want to raise more awareness of the sport so that there will be more courses for everyone to play at. Think about what disc golf has done for you, and imagine sharing that with other people who don't know about disc golf or haven't tried it. You will be doing everyone a favor by supporting this movie.
So, to recap. Community support + hard work + financing = a rockin disc golf movie that we can all enjoy and be proud of.
