It's heavy, it's dark, it embodies some of the best elements of the blues as well as the grunge scene, with blazing riffs and catchy melodies. Ex-members of Indigenous, Chris Duarte Group, and Blue Tantrum have joined together to form Disciples Of Sound.
The band started as an idea that bassist/singer Buffalo had while playing in his former band, Indigenous. He had written some material before entering the studio for their 2006 release, but in the midst of those sessions, the once all family band of Nakota Sioux's from Marty, South Dakota split up. A year earlier, Buffalo had a met guitarist Nate Boff backstage at the Oklahoma Blues Festival while both of their bands at that time were there performing. By coincidence or fate, Nate's band also parted ways around the same time, so he and Buffalo decided to get together. Nate drove thirteen hours from his hometown of Defiance, Ohio to Buffalo's home in South Dakota to try out some ideas. They wrote two songs the first day and Disciples of Sound was born, and in search of a drummer.
Early on, Buffalo's sister, Wanbdi (Wan-buh-dee) and long-time friend, Kurt Olsen would occasionally get behind the drums to complete the trio for a number of shows and demo sessions. It wouldn't be until nearly two years later that Ed Miles, formerly of the Chris Duarte Group, would join the band after responding to a craigslist ad Nate had posted.
Before becoming Disciples of Sound; Buffalo, Nate, and Ed each had earned a stunning list of credits that they are continuing to build now. From a number of performances at Austin's own SXSW to appearances on the Experience Hendrix Tour, Late Night with Conan O'Brien, and Woodstock '99 to name a few. Not to mention, sharing stages and tours with names like BB King, the late John Lee Hooker, Dave Matthews Band, Carlos Santana, John Mayer, Los Lonely Boys, Jackson Browne, and Buddy Guy.
July of 2009 would mark the band's debut EP release entitled "Devils In My Head," named after the title track that pays tribute to the blues legend, Robert Johnson. It was recorded by the band at Buffalo's mom's cabin, in a secluded valley in South Dakota, with the help of their friend Jesse Davey, who has also worked with Mick Jagger, Papa Roach, Dave Stewart, Indigenous, and The Davey Brothers. Currently DOS is building a large repertoire of original material and constantly recording demos, while regularly playing shows in the live music capital.
"Devils In My Head" went straight to the top of the Roots Rock Riot Show playlist. A classic Austin, Texas Shuffle with blazing geetars and ringing snare, it's sure to remain in the list for sometime to come. The second track "All Red" is equally funky with great vocals and modern production tones!"

On Behalf Of Everyone Who's Had To Deal With Crazy Fans
"On behalf of everyone who's had to deal with crazy fans
I contacted Crazy Land And voiced my complaints Their reply letterhead Had a emblem with a cock-eyed kookoo bird Frying it's own eggs In a silly nest While feeding some to worms Already concerned I opened it anyway
They insisted that their citizens Have the right to Go left at stop signs And had been purposely deceived by artists After buying our cds and dvds Traveling all of the way home Preparing candle light dinners Unwrapping their packages Only to become distraught with disappointment After finding that we weren't in there
So they were only coming to collect what they now owned
They also mentioned that they were offended At the timing of the arrival of my letter It was deer hunting season And they were stitching costumes together To go out and play doe
I concluded at that time It was best to leave their leadership alone"
Hey guys, We should get together and play in 2010. We are looking to make the trip back down to Austin...would you be interseted in letting us open for you? TQB
