We started playing together in 1994. It was kind of a fluke. Brian borrowed a guitar strap from Matt for a gig he had and when he returned, Matt had some guys over jamming. It sounded pretty good so Brian grabbed his guitar out of the car and joined in. That day some of DS's first songs were written including the songs disco stranger and hot tub.
After those first few sessions in John Sees' and Matt's house, we knew we were on to something. We started writing a lot of material and realized we needed a singer. We brought Dan in and lyrics started getting penciled in. Our first show came fast and some of the songs weren't set in stone for awhile.
We recorded our first demo tape in the summer of 1994 and made a bunch of copies to hand out to our friends. At that point the band included Brian Green on guitar, Matt Mueller on bass, Dan Lingle on vocals, Sean Chaffins on alto sax, John Sees on tenor sax and Drew Eastman on drums.
Over the next few years we gained a couple of horn players (Greg Humphries and Shaunte Palmer) and switched up drummers a few times; playing with Kenny Laibinis and Anson Musselman.
The final and current lineup was established in 1998 with the addition of Charlie Davis on drums and Jeff Grimshaw on percussion and electronics, and the downsizing of the horn section to just Sean Chaffins.
In 1997 we released Stranger Said Than Done, our first full - length album. We produced it ourselves and recorded it at Mambo records in Long Beach. It was engineered and mixed by Anthony Arvizu of Forty Ounces to Freedom fame. We toured the Southwest and played locally all over Southern California to support the record, and found local success. Although there was a lot of interest from record companies, no major label deal was ever struck.
We produced and released our second record, Six Pack on Special in the summer of 2000 and hit the road and local scene again. Again we found our shows packed, people singing the lyrics louder than the PA and merchandise selling out, but again no record deal.
From 2002 to present we have been playing the local scene and working on another record, tentatively titled Airplane Hill. This is our best work to date and some tracks from the studio are available on our myspace page. The members of the band have been playing with other groups along the way including Jesus Wore Dickies, Jack Manness, Sonny Boy, Nothing Lost, The Combovers, Sidecar, Meija, The Turtlenecks, The Funky Monks, Youth in Asia and Bruce Beacom.
We have shared bills over the years with Sublime, System of a Down, All Day, Long Beach Dub All Stars, The Specials, The Skeletones, Banyan, Zapp with Roger, The Mexicans, The Ziggens, Bargain Music, Jesus Wore Dickies, Slightly Stoopid and more.
Our live show now is the best it has ever been and our songwriting has developed into prime form. We fuse many genres of music, sometimes within the same song.
We've been compared to 311, The Red Hot Chili Peppers and Sublime. So if you like any of those bands, come see a show.
Live music. Local music. Rock and roll.

Ever wondered what to do in the event of a nuclear threat?
A while ago I came across some stuff that inspired me to make this film:
Living Under the Shadow of the Nuclear Umbrella
Both artistic (ensure you get the background music!) and educational, it primarily comprises official British government civil defence advice.
Though source materials are quite aged, the fundamentals are still relevant today.

Whats Crack? we are the thirty 3 threes from mission viejo ... we are your friends.... question... If a clock is hungry, does it go back 4 seconds? cant decide... the answer is some where ... oh the things we ponder... what are you doing on wednesday, the 23rd of april? you know what... if you havent figured out what you are doing you should just come out to chain reaction, tell your friends your going, bring them along if they would like to join you, tell the people at the door your there to see the thirty 3 threes... make new friends when you get there, because that place is gonna be full of fresh people just like you that decided to come out and see the 333's in full effect... still not convinced? well ... because you read this whole thing... ninjas have located your....location, and ninjas will be in your house the night of april 23rd if you are not in attendance at the event. they will drug you with ninja pellets , and transport your limp body to the show... but then, you wont have a ride home and you will be stuck at chain reaction... dont let the ninjas get you... btw if you make eye contact with a ninja, be sure to gouge your eyes out, before they attack and slit your neck... much respect and love... -Thirty 3 Threes ps...here is a fresh flyer...
