Ein kleines bisschen abseits der Bremer Punk-, Alternative-, Indie- und Metalszene gründete 2005 der Sänger und Gitarrist Tim Mütze die Band "Disease". Nachdem Tim so ziemlich jedes Bandmitglied ein- bis mehrmals ersetzen musste, fand sich viereinhalb Jahre später mit Gitarrist Kai Gernert (2007), Bassist Christoph Kuhnke (2008) und mit Drummer Kai-Ole Kirsten (2009) eine Konstellation, die nun endlich zusammen harmoniert. Dass sie auch funktioniert, bewies die Band bei Ihrem ersten gemeinsamen Auftritt, wo sie in der 6. Local Heroes Vorrunde 2009 in Bremen sofort ins Landesfinale einzogen und prompt den dritten Platz belegten.
Nach Konzerten auf der Hamburger Reeperbahn, einigen lokalen Gigs, Radiointerviews und einem TV-Auftritt, wurden sie im März 2010 als Vorband von LUXUSLÄRM gebucht und heizten so dem Publikum in der Lüneburger „Garage“ ein.
Dass Live-Auftritte zu ihren Stärken gehören, weiss jeder, der einmal zu Songs wie "Dirt-Rock" mit dem Kopf nicken durfte, jeder der einmal zu Songs wie "Loose Teeth" beim Pogen einen Zahn verloren hat und jeder, der schon einmal versucht hat, sich dem Charme und der Stimme des Sängers Tim Mütze bei Songs wie "Reverent Soul" zu entziehen. Disease sind mal laut, mal leise. Mal gehen die Songs unter die Haut und erzeugen Gänsehaut, mal schleichen sie sich samtweich in den Gehörgang, wo sie sich einnisten, und dann wieder fetzen sie rauh und markant und reißen jeden mit: unverschönt, ehrlich, roh, emotional, dreckig,
