About Dismal Euphony

This myspace account has been made for one purpose only: to put the struggle with Napalm Records to the fans' attention.

The original mix of the Soria Moria Slott album was never accepted by Napalm Records; they refused to release what they meant was a too raw and primitive production. The studio was forced to remix the whole album before Napalm even paid for the little week the band spent in the studio. This led to a production where the guitars were toned down, the keys turned up and the overall drum sound flattened and destroyed. Napalm Records were happy, but Dismal Euphony knew that this was killing the album, so they left aside one song (Fortidssjeledrepte?) from the original mix to be saved for negotiations on a later release of the original recording.
The original artwork was an oil painting by artist Vibeke Tveiten, but the painting was also concidered too grim and uncommercial; too abstract to make money on. So instead Napalm Records insisted on using the girls in the band for promotional effect. Money, money, money...

In 2005 the band contacted Napalm Records, wanting them to re-release the record the way it should have been released in the first place: with original mix, the original b/w cover and a proper mastering on vinyl as well as cd. The response from Napalm Records was that they claimed to have LOST the master tape AND the painting... The band couldn't believe their own ears.

Until we manage to rerelease the album the way it should have been back in the day: enjoy the songs that will be put out here, they will all be from the original mix. And to put a fist in the face of greed: download them for free!
