About me:
Based on the 1941 film, Dumbo the Flying Elephant first opened in Disneyland California in August 1955, one month after park opening. You can also find the ride in the Magic Kingdom, Tokyo Disneyland, Disneyland Paris, and Hong Kong Disneyland. When it first opened in Disneyland the attraction was called '10 Pink Elephants on Parade' or 'Pink Elephants On Parade', based on the dream that Dumbo had in the film, with the original ten ride vehicles painted pink upon installation. They say when it opened that Walt Disney objected the hallucination-themed attraction, and the vehicles were rethemed to the gray Dumbo himself. When Disneyland's Fantasyland was remodelled in 1983, the attraction was expanded to feature sixteen vehicles. Tokyo Disneyland is now the only park to still feature the original design of 10 flying elephants. Dumbo The Flying Elephant in Disneyland now sits where the Chicken of The Sea and Skull Rock restaurant use to be. Here is a ride on the old Dumbo attraction.
