SHOWS
The Dragon Machine
Blending industrial sculpture, animatronics and street theatre, be baffled, amused and maybe even amazed at the sight of showman 'Alfonso Milano' being pulled along in his trusty wicker bath chair by a 10ft long, flying, firebreathing, mechanical dragon with a 3 metre wingspan and a grumpy demeanour.
The show, which is visually stunning both in the day and when lit up by nearly 200 led lights after dark, explores the frustrating love hate relationship between Alfonso Milano and his reluctant show partner, the dragon.
Can he get his reluctant pet to breathe fire? Will he find love on the streets? And where exactly are his trousers?
It operates as a mime show and / or walkabout performance in slots of approximately 30mins
George and the Dragon:
with fellow performer and artist Paka and his mechanical horse Rusty, a darkly comic twist on a timeless tale.
Installations:
Scrap Dragon sculpture:
commisioned by Brentwood Arts Council as the Olympic mascot of Brentwood in Essex and starting his life with a 5 month stint sitting on the balcony of Brentwood Town Hall: a dragon sculpture made entirely from things that local residents have thrown away including over 200 scales made from food tins.
Quercus Metallicus:
commissioned by Essex Water and Chelmsford Borough Council, this metal tree stands 3.5metres tall and is nearly 7metres at its widest point. Raining water down from the branches and sending 10ft balls of fire into the air it is an assault on the senses.
During the day children are able to control the jets of eater and brass instruments on the branches.
