Distance From Shelter was formed at the end of 2007 at the same time Mike & Jodi's old band, 187CALM started to play shows together after a ten year hiatus. The two decided it was nonsense not to work together on new material so, Mike called his old friend, Bobby, from Mendocino County to see if he was interested in writing songs and playing drums in a new band.
The music of Distance From Shelter may be described as atmospheric and shimmering… stark and muscular… a power trio that taps the vein of 70’s hard rock, inhales deeply from the dense soundscapes of late 80’s/early 90's art-rock & noise pop and exhales with the raw attitude and volume of hardcore/punk rock.
We are booking shows for the greater SF Bay Area now. For info or bookings, you may reach us here (myspace) or send us an email: distancefs@yahoo.com. Thanks!

Mike, Jodi and Bobby.... Thank you for performing at SACRED LEAF! As always, a pleasure to share the stage with musicians who grab the breath of life and channel it through the avenues called music. Let's do it again soon! KOG; CI/SV 2009
Thanks you guys! It was great to play with you as well, and you had a rippin' set! I loved your music. I hope we can play another show together sometime.
You guys rocked it on Fri @ Uptown! =D Got stuck in construction traffic, so didn't get to see your whole set. =( You should've headlined, tho! Your music is so moving, a rare, haunting beauty that stays with you & stands out so far from everyone else! Hope to see you again soon! -Kerry, Crimson Ivy dancer
