 El perfume del saber

En cierta oportunidad estaban en un convento trabajando arduamente los monjes, 
cuando en forma imprevista llegó otro monje peregrino que se dedicaba a predicar 
las cosas de Dios. Golpeó la puerta principal y les dijo a los laboriosos religiosos del 
convento: " Vengo a visitarles para hablarles del Señor". 

Los monjes que estaban muy atareados, de inmediato empezaron a murmurar entre ellos: 
"¿Qué puede enseñarnos éste que nosotros no sepamos?"
"¡Sólo llega este peregrino a hacernos perder el tiempo!", comentaban contrariados.
Y en medio de ese descontento, decidieron insinuarle muy 
sutilmente que no podrían detenerse para escucharlo.
Entonces, uno de los monjes, le ofreció como cena sólo un vaso de leche diciéndole: 
"Mira, es lo único que tenemos para darte de comer; no tenemos tiempo en prepararte otra comida".
El monje peregrino, que no era tonto, interpretó inmediatamente la indirecta, y colocando un 
pétalo de rosa sobre el vaso de leche que le habían ofrecido, dijo: 
"Ves, este pétalo que he agregado a la leche flota en la superficie, pero no hace rebasar el vaso. 
Por el contrario, no sólo que no ocupa lugar, sino que además perfuma la leche que me trajiste".
El monje del convento calló y se retiró avergonzado: 
Él también había captado el sutil mensaje de respuesta.-

Moraleja: 
"Por más que estemos atareados, siempre debe haber un tiempo en nuestra 
vida y un lugar en nuestro corazón para escuchar las cosas de Dios. 
Lo que escuchemos y aprendamos acerca de Él, no sólo no "rebasará" nuestros 
conocimientos u ocupará inútilmente nuestro tiempo, sino que por el contrario, 
contribuirá a "perfumar" y hacer más bella nuestra existencia".
