Divided Opinions @ Hertford Corn Exchange by Blues Surgery Austin on BBC 3CR 'Band on a Bike'
with recent support to great artists such as WAYNE HUSSEY (the mission), MARK CHADWICK (the levellers), MILES HUNT (the wonderstuff) Phil Bates and Mik Kaminski (ELO) and FAIRPORT CONVENTION, the folk roots run deep through Divided Opinions yet their sound has developed far wider ranging textures. Having survived the near fatal tag of 'next big thing,' this North London/Herts band continue to blend a diverse range of influences and styles. With subtle, rounded melodies, edgy guitars and heart-ache violin, Divided Opinions expose their raw musical arguments between folk and rock. And their impressive calender of high profile support is set to continue as they have been invited as special guests to support the inspiring HAZEL O CONNOR with her new band, THE BLUJA PROJECT- confirming that not only does their diverse musical style appeal to most who hear them, they have gained the respect of some of the most prestigious musicians....The debate continues...
"Arrangements that drive when they need to, always uplifting, never throwaway. Very warm, slightly complex in an uncluttered way, intriguingly different."
Organ
"Mellow songs for mellow people, happy songs for happy people, worthwhile songs for worthwhile people."
Folk on Tap
"Theirs is a vibrantly commercial sound that offers a nod to the most successful roots and acoustic pop acts of the last decade, yet still maintains a real authority through solid and impressive songwriting."
Rock ‘n’ Reel
"A fluid fusion of folk pop. Not as contrary as their name suggests."

THIS IS IT, I have ONE LAST have a favor to ask you about this, could I? Since, as you might’ve heard, my picture won at the monthly level & Round 1, I got nominated for the LongHair Hawtie of the Year Finals (!) that ends today 7pm New York Time (can you just get it done now?) and... - was hoping for those 6 votes from you ;)
So... this is where you would cast a vote. Yeah, you do need to get accepted as a friend of www.MySpace.com/OfficialLongHairHawties before you can vote, but they’re nice girls (the hawtie folks), no harm whatsoever :)
Thank you so much already, In appreciation, - Armand www.MySpace.com/ArmandVio7
PS. since it would be so cool to win ‘by a landslide’ of like 5-600+ votes OVER and ABOVE over #2 guy (who will give us run for the money, he’s done that before!) - so, an 'evil' thought - maybe you can tell your friends to vote too? ;) Could you ask around?
A bit of advance notice - MondayMonday proudly presents Rún and Steven Finn and more at The Wilmington Arms, Clerkenwell on Monday 7th December
Rún collect and arrange old folk songs written in the ancient language of Erin. So far, thanks to Nora from Donegal, they have a nice wee collection of well-known ditties and are now adding to their repertoire with some unusual old forgotten songs from the province of Ulster. Rún are five fantastic lassies who perform four-part vocal arrangements of old Gaelic songs like ’An Cailín Rua’ (the red-haired girl), ’Casadh an tSúgain’ (twisting the hayrope) and ’Bo Na Leath Adhairce’ (the one-horned cow). Rún is the Gaelic word for ’secret, wish or love’ (cf. rune). See http://www.myspace.com/runceol ..
Steven Finn’s ears were filled with the music of Count Basie, Benny Goodman, Johnny Cash and old time country music. Aged 15 he began teaching himself the guitar, learning songs like Leadbelly’s ‘Bourgeois Blues’ and Charlie Daniels’ ‘The devil went down to Georgia’. On hearing Bob Dylan songs Finn started to write his own words and in doing so found a lifelong passion for Jazz and Folk Blues, a getaway car he could drive. The Kittiwakes - CD Launch - Clerkenwell 22nd June
Leigh-on-Sea 3-piece, The Kittiwakes, celebrate the release of their Midwich Records debut, ‘Lofoten Calling’, a collection of original folk songs written about the people, landscape, folklore and history of the Lofoten Islands above the Arctic Circle and influenced by the traditional music of Norway and the British Isles.
'The Kittiwakes craft timeless and magical acoustically dappled folk treats - gentle and alluring ostensibly Gaelic in sound texture and gorgeously flighty braided as they are by corteges of mandolins, accordions and violins.' [LOSING TODAY]
'The Kittiwakes (rissa tridactyla): delicious, intriguing and evocative music, beautifully played and sung by this talented trio. Recommended to twitchers and lovers of folk music alike' [LEIGH FOLK FESTIVAL]
