Paul Crawley, Sarah-Jane Scott and Dave Lewin make up the dance act Divine Inspiration.
Paul and Sarah-Jane met in 1999 through mutal friends while both where working in Mallorca. Paul had been taken over to DJ and Sarah-Jane was working at a friends Italian restaurant in Palma nova "Rossini's".
The instrumental for "The Way" came from a friend of Paul's, Jodie Sharp. Jodie was working for an independant record label at the time and had come over to Mallorca for a short break. After hearing that Sarah-Jane was a singer/songwriter she decided to give a promising instrumental she had been sent by studio dudes Dave Lewin and Lee Robinson to them both.
On the evening of June 29th 1999 "The Way" was recorded for the first time at casa Juanita in Portals nous where both were living at the time. Jodie was happy with the outcome but it would be three years before "The Way" would surface again. Paul tracked Dave and Lee down in 2000 and the three met for the first time in a carpark in sheffield. They were blown away after hearing their track with Sarah-Jane's vocals and it was soon after that the track was signed to "Heat recordings".
Once the track had been re-mixed by Svenson and Gielen and heard by Ministry of Sound A&R newcomer Dave Dollymore it was quickly licensed for the UK and hopes were high it would acheive top ten status on it's release. The video was shot on Brighton pier at the end of september 2002 and soon after became Radio 1s record of the week.
As predicted "The Way" achieved number five in the mainstream charts in January 2003 and has appeared on almost 50 compilations.
The follow up single "What will be will be" was released in november 2003 and following that came "Someday". Both were club hits but never achieved the same position as "The Way".
Lee has since left the band but Paul, Sarah-Jane and Dave are still in contact and wrote an albums worth of songs in 2004/2005. They are currently re-mixing one of their tracks "Never Leave You" and hope to get DJ Slipmatt to do the same after the success of his re-mix of "The Way" earlier this year.
