An Interfaith Minister is not an expert in the bible or the teachings of Buddha or Mohammed or any other prophet, although we do strive to be well read in them. We are trained in all religions to give us an understanding of them and to be able to provide services specific to a certain religion if it is specifically requested by an individual. I do not know the bible inside out or any other religious text for that matter. I am however totally accepting and not merely tolerant of all religious paths as legitimate to the person following it. Men and women who have been ordained Interfaith Ministers have studied comparative religion in depth, and are trained to work with people from different religious backgrounds. This is really helpful for couples and families consisting of individuals of different religious beliefs . It is also helpful for individuals exploring an independent spiritual path rather than a denominational one.
It is an approach to living harmoniously in a religiously and spiritually diverse world that respects the integrity of all diverse religious paths. It is not an attempt to convert anyone to any faith in particular or to fuse different faiths into a new one.
It is not necessary for individuals to accept all prophet founders as the way for themselves.... it is important to allow others to choose which religious path they choose to follow and let them follow it and support them on their journey..
God presents himself to different people in different ways according to what they are most likely to feel comfortable with and understand. All the different spiritual paths lead to enlightenment and closeness to the creator for the person following it and that’s what’s important. It doesn’t matter who brought the message but how it affects you spiritually and if it guides you to love of yourself and mankind. It’s a matter of the growth which you go through as a matter of following your spiritual paths.
