About me:
Jayda Atkinson a New Orleans native has always been intrigued with cooking. Jayda has touched family and friends through her cooking. Her cuisines are truly food for the soul...
In August 2005 Jayda and her four kids were forced out of their hometown and relocated to an unfamiliar place due to an unfortunate devastation, being that Katrina wasn't the first storm she had embarked, it was only the first storm to come from the heavens, she has survived the storms of life countless times, so she knew how to handle the situation like any other. During the months of piecing her and her family's life back together Jayda relied on a familiar tradition and let the Lord guide her into which has been a wonderful journey and she now has seen things and has been giving opportunities she would have never imagined in New Orleans. Relying on her athem of releasing her worries and letting HIS will be done, her blessings have begun to pour in abundantly. Before Hurricane Katrina Jayda had completed over 12 years of various catering assignments, as well as always throwing parties, cook-outs and dinners for her friends and family to enjoy! Cooking has always been her love offering.... When she realized her purpose,she decided to downsize her company "Divva Dishes" to a smaller more personal approach, which she now is a Personal Chef as well as offering In-Home Cooking Classes. She did this to devote the time to focus on her H.O.S. program and "Divva on a Mission" a Reality Cooking Show, which she created and stars in. She has always had big dreams of seeing herself helping others in large magnitudes, maybe even one day being a "culinary superstar" ,she just didn't see how. With nature forcing her to start over in the city of Atlanta and with God on her side the dream that once seemed impossible has now become a reality! God put the right people in her life at the right time and with that "Divva Dishes" is here in full stride! Jayda has never had anything handing to her on a silver platter,her childhood was not an easy one, with her mother being addicted to drugs (she is clean today), her step-father taken to jail, her father still growing to be the man he is today and her step-grandmother who raised her not knowing how to manage without her son, having to give up her home, to live with her sister who was not related to Jayda. All these things forced Jayda to become an adult while still being a teen. Being the strong-willed person she is, she took on this responsibility with no problems. Yes, she had struggles you would never imagine, but through it all she raised four beautiful children, helped countless people thru-out her journey, and has been a wonderful friend to many. She continues her journey hoping to be a testimony to someone who feels they can't overcome their issues at hand and a role model to children teaching them they can be whatever it is they want to be in life with faith and perserverence. She is truely a Divva on a Mission!!!!!
Divva Dishes proudly presents Divva on a Mission.....Feeding one family at a time...Divva on a Mission is a reality cooking show. Jayda's mission is to travel searching for deserving families to feed. The show's aim is not to prepare a "quick fix budget meal," but to create a special experience for the entire family to get involved in. My goal is to bring "Families back to the Table". Each mission Jayda will randomly find a family that will open their doors to her on the spot allowing her into their kitchen equipped with her tools ready to do her magic. As well as cooking for the family, she will give them a table set that will give them the feeling as if they left their houses and went out on a family date night. While inside the home, Jayda will interact with the family by bringing everyone in the kitchen and teaching them techniques to try these dishes in the future........Given the opportunity to do something she has a passion for as well as being someone whose has come from poverty driven struggles, doors shut in her face, she loves to uplift others,she feels that this is the greatest assignment of all.

This is why Sista Gurl do what we do, we are not afraid to talk about molestation. The staff of Sista Gurl was out spending the word of awareness about molestation. When some people hear what we have to say, they claim up, they didn’t want to hear anymore and walk away. Neatness to say most of those people who walk away have children somewhere nearby. There was one person who touched my heart that day. After a mother walked away from our booth a little girl I believed to be the woman’s daughter. She have to be somewhere around the age of 9 to 11. She stopped and asked me “what does molestation means?’ I give her a quick answer where I hope she understood where I was coming from. I replied “molestation mean when someone touch you where it make you feel uncomfortable “.The little girl gave such a disgusting look. We was blown away that she never hear of the word molestation or she didn’t know what it meant. I say all of this to say, parents please take time to talk to your babies about this topic, MOLESTATION. Those talks may save your children’s life.
