I'll give you the short version:
diZi's been at it, singing, playing and composing since a little girl.
The first instrument I leared to play was Kantele (a Finnish traditional instrument), and then in came the piano. Soon after that my mother was forced to buy me a set of drums so i wouldn't abuse her pots and pans anymore. She's also been the encouraging factor for me with her honest opinions and criticism! Later on I added guitar, digeridoo and such to that list. I like experimenting and learning new things!
My voice was almost always in use, singing was early on in my life as normal as breathing, although some family members and friends might refer it to torturing-with-sound. But as time ticked on my voice got more trained, and the only complaints now was mostly from a few choir members, meaning that my strong voice was drowning theirs. It was about then I understood that though singing in choir was fun, I didn't quite fit in. I don't like tromping over other people's toes, and neither do I like being dissed because of something that is a part of the authentic me, the ESSENCE of my being. I don't wanna tangle myself up in a net where I can't be myself truly. Respecting the natural and individual parts of yourself is according to what I believe a key-factor to accept and feel for other people too.
I played and sang with bands, had a lot of fun for some years. Mostly blues /rock / grunge/ some kinda' funky shh...I worked with many talented people, and appreciate those days and those people so much!
But then of course all of life changed with studies and with that, lack of time. But you cant stop fire from burning.
I continued doing my thing and also dared to try at the hiphop I love so much.
Rough, PHat beats, rythm n' rhyming. Just what at least I need to put a groovy move on on the dance floor. My brother and I worked at some tunes, and he became a partner in crime in my musical growing.
I blended in other influences from song, rock, whatever I wanted to. I don't want to work in boundaries, musics a thing that should fly free. I believe you get nowhere with tying yourself up to an existence without enough room to evolve in.
So on I go, lettin' time teach me more. Music's still the thing that my fire fuels on. Walk Your Talk. And write your path.
