   About Dizraeli

Dizraeli is a rapper, writer, poet and singer with the band Bad Science , and a member of the Brighton-based CommUNITY Collective. He is the 2006/7 Farrago UK Slam Poetry Champion and also the Radio 4 Poetry Slam winner.

Directing his stream of rap-stories like a flashlight into the murkiest corners of British culture, Dizraeli takes in politics, love, rain, supermarkets, grief, drug culture, and the nasty bits of masculinity with a sense of humour and a directness that might make you wince, but that always ring true. He might just help us move things forward. .

Planted originally in Bristol, Diz was nourished by the music and culture that flooded through that city in the 80s and 90s. He grew into a man and moved East to Brighton in 2001. There, he found himself performing all over the shop, welcomed by the fertile hiphop scene on the south coast, and also by the spoken word circuit, where his lyrics were heard as poems. It's all words though innit?

It was at one of these events that he met up with the Canadian rhymesmith Baba Brinkman, and through the meeting of fired up opinions (stubborn bastards) and passionate viewpoints came the birth of Mud Sun, their collaboration group which has produced the slightly mental "Mine the Gap" ep and the definitely excellent "The Rebel Cell" lp, in collaboration with dope producers, the latter a full length hiphop play, a twenty track album where every song is a scene from the show.

They took the stage version of the Rebel Cell up to the Edinburgh Festival this summer and were greeted with starry reviews and wicked audiences. Check out www.babasword.com for a full break down of the show, for a FREE download of the whole thing, and for reviews and video footage of parts of the show.

KING PORTER STOMP with TIN ROOTS @ THE BRUNSWICK, SAT DEC 12TH.

We're very happy indeed to have been invited back to play a Christmas show at the Brunswick. We're gonna be joined by our festival friends and wicked roots reggae groovers, Tin Roots, so expect a whole lotta skanking and stomping around with the odd mince pie chucked in.

We'll be fresh from our South West mini tour and it'll be the last chance to catch us play before we go into hibernation to record our new album at the beginning of the new year...we may even give you a sneaky taster of what's in store...it's gonna be fat and funky for sure. We're planning knocking 2009 on the head with a bang so please come down and experience us burning off all the calories we've got and lifting the roof in a proper stomping party stylee.

It's hopefully gonna be rammed so please get your tickets in advance to avoid disappointment, and they're cheaper!

Tickets are £5 in advance from www.brunswickpub.co.uk or click the link above.

Hope to see you all there x

I have recently finished a solo project called, SHOW AND TELL,

and it is the album I have always wanted to write.

It is a horror concept album. All the recording, sound effects and music was done by me.

My girlfriend, Jade, helped me iron out flaws in the story.

Tom Caruana and Whitey gave me a beat each as well. (Tom Caruana "02. The Show", Whitey "12.
The Reason")

You can download it for £4.

Come on thats good! I give shit away all the time!
