Sup househeads! My name is Matt Pruitt, aka 4PEACE, aka one half of HIGH MAINTENANCE along with J. Caprice.
My love affair with house music started in 1989 when a friend of mine told me about a record store called Oaklawn Records (R.I.P.) that carried all electronic dance music. So I decided to check it out and the moment I walked through the door my life changed forever. I immediately bought some decks and started blowing entire paychecks on vinyl.
As a DJ, things took off pretty quickly and by 1992 I was holding a few club residencies around campus at Stephen F. Austin State where I was finishing up my schooling. I eventually moved back to the DFW metroplex in 1994 and immediately scored a residency at a new club called Piranha Bar where I met DJ Carl Howard. It was our friendship that led to me getting recruited into Ft. Worth's original rave crew, Anomaly. Anomaly is responsible for throwing the very first rave events around FW.
Since then I've played at a countless number of raves, one-offs, & club appearances, held many residencies (WAX, Aqua Bar, Home Bar/Green Elephant, UX, Sand Bar, Frixion, Piranha, The Ridglea, Dog Star, Zubar, Moosh...), and have had the pleasure to showcase my talents around the country in places like Chicago, Miami, & New Orleans. Name a headliner and I've probably performed with 'em at some point. To name a few, I've had the privilege to play alongside cats like DJ Sneak, Jason Hodges, Chuck Love, Paul Johnson, Stacy Kidd, Bear Who, Gant Garrard, Gene Farris, Ken ECB, Hipp-E, Derrick Carter, Onionz, Demarkus Lewis, JT Donaldson, Roy Davis Jr., Richard Humpty Vission, Sun City Hustlers, Byron Foxx, Combined, Brett Johnson, Jamanta Crew, Jay West, Inland Knights....and many more.
Most people know me best from the Haltom City Warehouse (a.k.a. The Big House) parties from '94-'95, Anomaly (the first rave crew in Ft. Worth), The Underground X (still Ft. Worths most successful dance club to date), Aqua Bar, Silent Eclipse (responsible for the first multi-headliner parties in Dallas), and as the owner Tech*Sun (DFW's most popular record store from 2000 to 2003). At the 1997 inaugral Ft. Worth Weekly music awards I received the award for "Best Club DJ" and was first runner up in 1998. I have also worked as a house music reviewer for Feedback & Elevated Beat magazines. I spent time as a manager for Neurvox Records (deep ellum location) and was one of the original employees at Core Records before opening my own record store (with good friend Wes Fisher), Tech*Sun Records, in March of 2000 through December 2003. I've been featured as a guest DJ on FM 102.1 Edgeclub multiple times and have made appearances on several other regional stations.
I love all forms of house, but it's the groovier, funkier side of the 4/4 I throw down. Uplifting disco, raw funk, jackin' jazz, playful swing, wobbly fidget, or shuffly techno.....as long as it's raw and will get a dancefloor movin', I'll mix it in.
Currently, I'm in the studio working like a madman with my boy J. Caprice under the duo guise of "High Maintenance". We had 10 tracks released in 2008 and even more to come in 2009!!! Labels we have released on include Digi Funk, Shak Digital, Junky Trunk, Juiced, Footwear, Groove Baby, Union, Midwest Hustle, & Bid Muzik. J. Caprice & I also run our own label called JUICED MUSIC. A few of the artists included in our stable of artists include JR From Dallas, Combined, Byron Foxx, Erik Bo, Wattie Green, Dave Miller, Scrubfish, Ezra Osborne, & Terrance Disko. In addition to all this, I'm also working on some solo projects under 4PEACE as well as some boots under the alias of DUEY DECIMAL.
As for this whole myspace thing, I'm diggin' it so far. Nice networking tool and a great way to keep track of friends. Speaking of which, I'm very picky about who I'll add. Only DJ's, producers, artists, local fans, and true househeads need apply, so make sure your page reflects this before you make a friend request. If you only want to boost your friend count, promote your lame band, sell a product, flex, or show me your boob job, don't bother and move along. Stay tuned & stay house....

Andy Toka Project/Inland Knights: yeah really cool!.....loving sun city hustlers track...and programming is wicked......definately gonna get plays from me
Giom: Loving the original mix and also Tom's new original tune, programming! Paaaaaaarty!
Gav Littlemen: Love the original and Programming
Ben (Brown/Unpopular) i like all the tracks. my favourites of real thang are the original and toms mix - especially like the rudebwoy b-line and old style beats of the TSI mix.my favourite of the whole release is programming - i think mostly cos of the samples and the way they are arranged. its good fun.
Mike (Kolour): sch's original broke new ground for these guy's sound. it has a nice disco vibe that works really well in the mix. i've been playing it since john sent it moons ago. the mastering on it came out perfect too. really brings the tune to life.damien's remix features more of the vocal and that's never a bad thing as far as i'm concerned. he churned out yet another remix where he takes the original tune and makes it his own. this is definitely something i'll play tom's remix is definitely a departure from the other two versions. he adds a level of filth to it that contrasts the dynamic of the EP just enough to give it that 'something for everyone' feel.
Quell: I LOVED Damien's old/new school remix and the original version of that track and i really like Toms 'programming' track.
Strakes (Lost My Dog): Original mix of Real Thang is sounding good – r
