Seriously. Thanks.
I am a music lover, promoter, DJ, and committed environmental activist. London is the world hub of music as far I'm concerned and I have dipped my feet in all it's genres, though particularly psychedelic trance, dub, and breakbeat. I first got the psy bug at the Fridge in Brixton around 1995 but was particularly inspired by the radical and politically conscious parties at the time, including squats at Cooltan Arts, Megatripolis, and later The Warp Experience, and the Den of Enlightenment. These parties turned me on to radically different ways of living, an underground culture evolving separately to the rampant consumerism, careerism, and alienation of the London streets outside. I was particularly inspired by the use of peak experiences at parties to help people make radical shifts in their thinking patterns, making connections to each other and their higher selves. At the Warp Experience and other Drome parties in 1999 I got more involved in the running of these kinds of parties, promoting, painting backdrops, DJing, photographing, and spinning poi, particularly at the more conscious end of the squat scene, which at that time were the Liquid Spiral parties, made up of the fledgeling Liquid Connective (now transformed to Liquid Records), ID Spiral (now world-renowned chillout crew), Nagual Sound Experiment, and Indigenous People. I also became a resident DJ at the Alliance and Natural Order parties (birthplace of Pukka music), and helped with legendary parties at the Bishops Avenue mansion, Butlers Wharf, and Michael's Vineyard. The natural progression was then to go legitimate with the Synergy Project, London's largest 'conscious party', now known as Luminopolis, which I have been involved with since it's beginning in 2003, promoting, performing, and co-ordinating the NGOs and campaigning.
I also do promotions for the Synergy Centre in South London, the Liquid Dub events, and have been part of the crew for the Kalahari parties which raise money and awareness for the plight of the Kalahari Bushmen and tribal people in general. It was here in 2005 that I met Youth, one of my musical heroes, and since then I have been proudly working for three of his record labels, Dragonfly Records, Liquid Sound, and Kamaflage Records on new media promotions and A&R (which means I now spend most of my time here on myspace!), as well as being a label DJ, mostly focussing on the Liquid Sound label. I have DJ'd at many events, alongside artists such as Youth, Pathaan, Brother Culture and Manasseh, Mixmaster Morris, Matt Black, International Observer, and Ashtech.
In my spare time I am a poi teacher and performer with my crew of glow toy performers Jedi Jugglers.
I am also a qualified Mechanical Engineer with a specialism in aerodynamics. My main engineering interests are wind turbines and other renewable energy systems, though I am no longer interested in working in large corporate shareholder-funded structures. I have recently helped build a small wind turbine for the Climate Camp at Heathrow in 2007, and plan to build more. Decentralised energy and appropriate (i.e. minimal and sustainable) technology is the way forward, and I plan to get as skilled as possible and pass on that knowledge before peak oil really hits hard... I give it 4 years... Are you ready?
Who I'd like to meet: People who want to pay me to DJ or save the planet, Environmentalists, Mentalists, Physicists, Astronomers, Psychonauts, Geniuses, Renewable Energy experts, Scruffy Herberts, Herbalists, Verbalists, Qabbalists, Taoists, Buddhists, Chemists, Alchemists, Ethnobotanists, Permaculturists, Ecologists, Geologists, Mycologists, Psychologists, Parapsychologists, Pharmacologists, Neurologists, Logicians, Magicians, Green Party Politicians, Artisans, Artists, Martial Artists, No Piss Artists, Straightedgers, Veggies, Vegans, Raw foodies, Fruitarians, Foragers, Bushcrafters, Healers, Heathens, Witches, Wizards, Warlocks, People who think outside of the box, Rockers, Ravers, Rastas, Shaivites, Shamans, Druids, Dreadies, Gypsies, Hippies, Freaks, Weirdos, Yogis, Gurus, Saddhus, Pagans, Occultists, Sorcerers, Sufis, Galactic Federation Agents, Jedis, Jugglers, Spinners, Drummers, Musicians, DJs, VJs, Bodypoppers, Breakdancers, Beatboxers, Beatniks, Psychics, Mystics, Tantrics, Hot chicks, and particularly Cute Girls who fit any of the above :)
