Who I'd like to meet: Alex Tjore began his journey as DJ Electro with a guest appearance at the late, Oslo-based club concept "Black Alert" Friday March 3, 2006 thanks to good friends and colleagues DJ Burlesk and Shark (a.k.a. DarkShark). The venue was SinPecado (later renamed Club Maiden), and the occasion was a releaseparty for Placebo's new album "Meds".
Though the somewhat unoriginal and fully genre-describing name choice (based both on his username on various community websites and a not-too-cheezy-description of his broad interest for all kinds of ELECTRO-nic music), DJ Electro swiftly became a frequently playing part of Club Maiden's resident DJ staff. This including both as solo DJ, support-DJ for international bands/artists and club manager. Together with Bariuz (member of successful Swedish synthpop act Code 64, Black Comedy, Protostar and Hypnodrift) and DJ Optimus Prime, DJ Electro founded Norway's only club concept combining the highly danceable genres EBM, industrial, powernoise, dark harsh electro and psytrance called CYBERDYNE CLUB, on Saturday December 22, 2006. Which (against all odds) became an instant success.
DJ-support appearances include for acts like Ladytron (UK), Apoptygma Berzerk (NO), Hocico (MEX), Feindflug (DE), Supreme Court (DE), Funker Vogt (DE), Tyske Ludder (DE), [:SITD:] (DE), SAM (DE), E-Craft (DE), Reaper (CH), Cyborg Attack (DE), Sturm Cafe (SE), NVMPH (SE), Gothminister (NO), Elusive (NO), Red Cell (SE), NorthBorne (NO), Essence of Mind (NO), Pride And Fall (NO), Monomen (NO), (almost Aesthetic Perfection from USA) and more.
Festivals and larger events include Wave Gotik Treffen 2009, ElektroStat Festival 2008 and 2009, Bloodline's Halloween Party 2008, Hellfire's first Helldorado Festival 2007, Scapegoat & Gotham Nights' Halloween Party VII 2007, the world's second largest computer party "The Gathering" 2007 at the indoor winter olympic arena "Vikingskipet" with 5200 spectators and Oslo's annual open-air festival Musikkfest (Musikkens Dag) 2006. DJ Electro has guested smaller clubs like BodyLove, Catland, Gotham Nights - Norway's oldest running goth/synth club, Black Alert, ElektroStat Club, The Crypt and Zektornine (Bunkergate.com), and numerous venues including Rockefeller Music Hall, John Dee Live Club & Pub (both floors), Garage Rock Pub, Blue Monk, Amplifier Rockbar, SinPecado/Club Maiden, Hulen, Nylon Bar Social Club, Cafe 3B, Sub Scene, Skuret Bar & Scene, Club Solstice (former Killyrego), Samfunnet Bislett, Fabrikken, Dean/Hawk, Camouflage Cafe & Club, U.F.F.A., Betong Basement at Chateau Neuf Theatre, Verkstedet Bar, Blindern - The University of Oslo, the Sthaal Bunker at Odderoya, MusikkCafeen, Moritzbastei, The Isaac Butt Bar, Studio 24, Untoten Gothic Club, The Second Skin Club and Oscar's.
Cities he has played in include Oslo, Trondheim, Bergen, Kristiansand, Fredrikstad, Horten, Rena, Sandvika and Hamar in Norway, and Leipzig in Germany, Dublin in Ireland, Edinburgh in Scotland (UK), Granada in Spain, Athens in Greece and Lysekil in Sweden.
Today DJ Electro still manages, hosts and promotes CYBERDYNE CLUB together with Bariuz and Optimus Prime, and appears frequently as both DJ and club manager in Norway and abroad. Sets include everything from hard-hitting, industrial EBM, aggrotech and dark, harsh electro ('endzeit' and 'splatterdisco') to aggressive old school 'body' and melodic futurepop - depending on the event theme.
DJ Electro is currently also managing a solo-club project called THE ALTERN80S CLUB, 100% dedicated to the alternative hits of the 1980's with exclusive guest-DJ'ing from genre-important artists, in addition to a very own annual birthday celebration mini-festival with LIVE synth-acts (e.g. Auto-Auto, Disco Digitale, EkoBrottsMyndigheten, Protostar) and DJ's called XELABRATION.
