DJ Guy is Europe's leading booty turntablist and the man behind the Global Fire record label. Greatly influenced by Detroit Ghettotech DJs such as DJ Godfather, DJ Assault and the late Disco D, he's known for his quick-fire mixing and genre-crossing sets. You can get a bunch of his mixes here: DJ Guy Mixes
The label Global Fire was started in 2007 by DJ Guy and is dedicated to releasing a spread of the best in booty music.
With worldwide DJ support from the likes of DJ Godfather, Freak It All Night is DJ Guy's latest release on Global Fire and it's got Freaky written all over it. Featuring Detroit's DJ Knowledge on vocals, the title track takes inspiration from the spooky sound of GFIRE 003's "Ghost Dick" and funks it up with a lick of Soca in the 4x4 booty beats.
DJ Knowledge's perfect ear-worm of a vocal is guaranteed to have dancefloors chanting the "All Night" hook, but that isn't the only exciting collaboration here - Rotterdam's Mister Ries has supplied his own massive take on the original track, built up with bumping bass and hypnotic synths. With a string of hot cuts on Detroit's Databass Records, his own 4 Player Records label and most recently with his Hit It To The Beat release making waves on Juke Trax, Mister Ries is the first artist apart from DJ Guy to make an appearance on Global Fire (it's about time!) and it's a real pleasure to have him involved.
Global Fire always has the DJ in mind so for maximum flexibility, both the instrumental and acapella versions of the original track are included on the release.
DJ Guy was one half of the Non Stop DJs duo (CLICK HERE for the Non Stop DJs myspace page) who came to the attention of booty fans across the globe in late 2003 with their infamous "All Cylinders" mix (CLICK HERE to get the mix), featuring over 112 tracks mixed live in NSD's trademark 2-deck + Ableton style, with DJ Guy scratching and juggling the booty-shaking records alongside DJ Brelson on laptop.
Non Stop DJs released their first 12", the Furious EP, in 2004 to great response, with airplay on the UK's BBC Radio 1, DJ support around the globe from the likes of DJ Godfather and DJ Rolando, heavy radio play in Detroit, and electro & techno heavyweight Dave Clarke placing the EP at the #1 spot in his electro chart.
December 2006 saw Non Stop DJs blowing things up again with the release of the Retarded EP, which was the first ever record to have "ghetto locks" on it, DJ Guy's own invention. The 4 locked grooves have 5 points on them so they play at 166.6 BPM and they're also lined up with each other so you can jump the needle from one to the next but still stay in time. Fashinating ey?
The Detroit booty DJing that influenced DJ Guy's style mixes up party tracks from Miami Bass to electro to techno to ghetto house to Baltimore Club to hiphop, all scratched and blended together with the kind of turntable tricks that you only normally see in hiphop. DJ Guy is one of a rare breed of DJs who can keep a dancefloor hot while making jaws drop with his trademark turntable skills.
Reflecting the mix of styles that he spins in his DJ sets, DJ Guy also releases Baltimore Club style tracks as Dikulous with his "U Know What To Doo" included on the super-fast selling Dress 2 Sweat Vol. 1 12" alongside tracks from Rustie and Pistol Pete. He's also performed remix work for Deekline & DJ Assault and for Disque Primeur's Goon & Koyote.
DJ Guy is currently available for bookings globally - contact him via his website.
