About me:
DJ Bio:An innovative artist in an evolving music culture, Leon J has been building a musical foundation in the Twin Cities for the last ten years. His energetic sets have made him a staple in the Midwest dance music scene. Taking his love of a lesser-known genre of music to the masses while maintaining his artistic credibility has proven a successful and rewarding challenge; Leon J is now one of the most sought -after breakbeat DJs in the area. He introduces his unique sound to dance music enthusiasts, new and old, with undeniable fervor. Whether playing to an intimate, music -hungry crowd of 100 or opening for the Crystal Method with a packed dance floor of 3,000 people, Leon consistently delivers contagious energy and impressive track selection. Since establishing several resident nights over the years, his fan base continues to grow rapidly.
In addition to his solo efforts, Leon J has formed partnerships with some of the most recognized event coordinators in the Twin Cities. His lighthearted and charismatic personality gives him a competitive advantage in a region filled with talent. Leon J is a top choice when an international headliner requires local talent. He has supported many celebrated acts such as Adam Freeland, The Crystal Method, BT, Josh Wink, Baby Anne, and many other national and international electronic artists.
In 2006, Leon was recognized by Sound in Motion CEO Jack Trash as one of the Twin Cities' top five dance music DJs to watch. Jack Trash explains: "Few DJs in the Twin Cities can take a form of music besides house or electro and get the masses moving, but Leon J does exactly that with his signature form of UK styled breaks."
With 2009 bringing a host of new opportunities, Leon has further risen as a recognized name in electronic music. A new partnership with another Minneapolis favorite - DJ Cor E has led to the birth of a new music production & DJ duo - "RECON 22." Already creating a strong name for themselves with their production, RECON 22 is poised for success. Whether creating original works in the studio, or bringing his talent to new cities and venues, Leon continues to cross creative boundaries with the unwavering passion he is recognized for.
