I am a child of the Acid house era in the late 80's, along with my industrial roots, and new wave upbringing. I've been DJing since about 1988 and producing over the last fifteen years. Recently i have started utilizing a talent i never knew i had... on the mic..not singing, not rapping, but kind of a love child of the two. Kinda like if Fierce Ruling Diva had a child with Pet Shop Boys. It started as a joke track, and now my voice is on peoples records around the world..and to think, all this time i been talkin shit, for free!!
I like any kind of music that sounds like it took half a brain and more than a day to make..which means trance and radio-rap is right OUT!!!
As far as my sets go, they can range anywhere from straight up house, to tech house, rock, electro, indie, to techno, or even some Paradise Garage classic NY style stompers..it sounds manic but i've developed a certain unique way of playing that allows me to do weird shit like that and make it sound right. somehow the stuff i pick out all has this certain thread that ties all these styles together, i cant describe it, i dont know what it is ..but its worked for me for 2 decades so its must be real. I just like music that makes you feel things..not just mindless sound to keep your ears busy. I definatley prefer the hooligan style of DJ'ing ala Basement Jaxx and Audio Bullys..basically punk rock dj'ing...anything goes as long as it fits right..which to me is the art of being a dj...... i like suprises, peaks and valleys..not just linear mixing.
My first release was the "High Friends In Places EP" under the name N.A.S.A. Project wit h my buddy DJ A1. That record blew up way beyond any of our expectations and became a rave standard and is apparently still on many peoples wish list over a decade and a half later!!! During this time i started my first nightclub residency at Dallas' legendary Club One. I held the reigns at this night by myself, with weekly 8 hour sets for the better part of ten years. Which taught me how do dj all night without getting boring. also this is where i really established my DJ persona and hosted such guest DJ's as Deep Dish, Peace Division, John Creamer and so many others. Next "Believe", a project by local synth/pop outfit INTERFACE. I did the remix and it went off as well, ending up liscensed to Moonshine for Keokis Disco Death Race 2000 compilation...and everything started to roll. 10 releases later (i dont release a lot of records , but the ones i release are GOOD! which to me is more imortant) i've done work on some of the worlds most respected labels and dj'd with the worlds most respected artists. I've done a private party for Depeche Mode, was asked by 808 state to tour with them and New Order, and pretty much played everywhere in this country i'd ever aspired to.....not to mention about 14000000 raves back in the day,...and im on my third year of my residency at Minc, a classy joint that has become one of the hubs for quality DJ talent in our city. Still making a living while having a good time....hopefully no one will blow my cover!!! Nice to meet ya! come by say hi and drink champagne with me!!
