When you put the virtues of hard work, determination and party rocking together, there is only one West Coast party starter that comes to mind – DJ Skooby.
Dubbed ‘The People’s Dj’ by those that bear witness to his entertaining sets, the West Aussie DJ’s notoriety has seen him earn back to back titles at the Perth Dance Music Awards in 2007 & 2008 for Best Urban R&B DJ.
On top of his entertaining sets and accolades, Skooby has supported some of the world’s biggest acts including Lil Jon, G-Unit, Ne-Yo, Talib Kweli, Scribe, and Xzibit, to name just a few.
Over the past eight years the sociable DJ has wowed and entertained the masses at some of Australia’s biggest and most successful club brands including Superclub, $elebrity, Playaz Ball, Déjà Vu, Red Room, Southside, Hypnotiq, Urban Grooves, and Mystique.
But it’s not all turntable trickery for this music enthusiast. Skooby has also worked on former youth community radio station Groove 101.7fm on popular Old Skool show Sunday Skool, contributed quality mixes towards the Mix @ 6 program, and was nominated for Best Urban Radio Show at the 2006 Urban Music Awards for his New Zealand dedicated hip hop and R&B show, Nesian Vibes.
This exposure has also seen Skooby work tirelessly to help build the reputation of the Perth talent around Australia. Having worked on R&B sensation Che’Nelle’s mixtape, Skooby has also supported artists including Rami Barz, B-Syde, Hyclass, Sevz, Roy-Al and The Ill Ones, further proving his commitment to recognizing his hometown artists.
With so much already accomplished for this DJ and so much more in the foreseeable future, Skooby has seen himself rise to being one of Perth’s Favourite DJs and no doubt will not disappoint, whether on the decks or on the airwaves, for many years to come.
