Being a true music head, Dj Aakmael is not your average producer. His family has a history of musical talent, from his Great Uncle being a music teacher/composer for HU for some time, and his parents were both in love with various types of music. His musical journey started in the 5th grade when he was introduced to the clarinet, and continued to play until the 7th grade when he learned the ways of the tenor sax. After two years playing sax, he then became interested in brass, and learned the baritone horn. He also played valve trombone, tuba and various other things through the years. In his last two years in High School, he was selected from many other students to perform in Regional Band, and honor that was given to the areas more serious and gifted musicians. Also he played in all three bands (marching, jazz and concert), and ofter wrote music for the entire band for games and other events. After being a part of St Augustine's band, and in Norfolk State's marching band, he decided to continue his Djing. Now on the Dj side, Aakmael started when he was about 16 doing parties, school jams, weddings, house parties, etc., playing everything from hip hop to rnb. After college, his musical horizon broadened even more when he started playing house, reggae and classics in his sets. He continues to Dj Deep House today on his radio show of 18 years on WDCE 90.1fm. Since the early 90's, Aakmael has been through a few ups and downs when it comes to the "biz", working wtih many people here and there. These things have toughened him up to be able to deal with the trials, the red tape, and other crazy things that can go on in the music business world. He has enjoyed some success with his releases out on Bumpin City Records, Unified Records, Manuscript Records and Cyberjamz Records which are available online. Aakmael also continues to produce remixes and talk regularly with other labels and producers in the game. As far as current productions, Aakmael produces Hip Hop, RNB, and Deep House Music. A sample of some things can be sent upon request. pce
