STYLE: It is always rich of surprises, able to nullify borders with naturalness between minimal, electrofunk, technohouse, proggy and psy-trance, to retrive obscure tracks of the past and to delight the dance floor with fancy grooves at the right point, leading the people up to a real out-and-out musical journey… through cultures and trends that have featured the foreign experiences!
Born in Genoa but thanks to my parents I was lucky to grow up in Africa in a real natural paradise.
Music has always been my only travel mate, inseparable!
Significant for myself was being a spectator of Gospel Masses, embedding the idea and the wish to transmit a sense of joy and freedom through music. I was in need to create a soundtrack to everything around me!
At the end of the 80s I started teaming up with some clubs, dealing as art director. Soon I realized that my city and not only it weren’t able to understand me and my sound. Sometimes it happens!
At the beginning of the 90s I got to Ibiza. It was love at the first sight!! I was as much as in love with that exciting island to immediately decide that it had to turn into the place where I would have lived and evolved myself musically. I begun to get in the game comparing my musical taste, starting to play sounds like uplifting and Goa Trance.
The middle 90s represented the decline of the island. Trend-setter disappeared and the big clubs became a sort of entertainment industries.
I founded YOGI Club, with three friends of mine. A place where orient and occident were mixed not only in the sonorities but also in the food.
Living in a island like Eivissa means risking to lose the contact with the reality a lot of time, feeling the tourists like lightning bugs that all shine during the night in the same way…without own personality, standardized in words and actions. Just like heaps of tin cans that wriggle at the beats! You could even play the news theme song… they would keep jumping and dancing on the dancefloor! I was living where I wanted to, but I couldn’t feel the real essence of the island anymore. I wasn’t the only one.. we were a lot of us sharing the same sense of not belonging to it. We all were no more able to feel good at the right time, with the right people and in the right place, where a look could explain everything and the energy was everywhere, inside and around you.
Somebody said that the 2001 changed the world, I changed my background. I came back to Italy with an experience developed from raves, clubs like Km5, Naif and private parties. I wanted to transmit those emotions that had marked that period of my life, sharing and not allowing them to fade away in frames or in my mind. In these case the energy helps you to come closer to people around you. Tribereunion came to life, and I was the art director. At the same time I designed a new project called THE CLUB. I wanted to give a different setting to the clubs, giving them a new kind of sonority beyond the standards. I encountered lots of difficulties, but I had more satisfactions.
Blue Marling, Sal y Mar, Monumento became clubs where people used to go to listen to music, something was happening!!!
In the 2003 I played in lots of clubs like Canniccia, Faruk, Baia Imperiale, Brancaleone. Cooperation with artists and musicians multiplied, and came to life the first rave organised according to the rules I’ve learnt in Spain.
In the 2004 we gave as a gift to our public THE LOCATION. A multimedia Rave organised with the collaboration of international artists. The success was massive! 15hours of music and dancing nonstop! I’ve been played for 8hours, don’t actually realizing it. The energy I felt was unbelievable and unforgettable!
The 2005/6 have been characterized by darker sonority. I played my last afterhour in May then I was asked to play in Greece. In June I moved to the little island. I fell in love for the second time. Different from Eivissa, Mykonos is characterised by the style and the dash of the clubs, and by the cleaned white alleys!
I found simple sonorities, but the energy of the island was great and dynamic. Playing at the Paradise Club at the sunrise made me feel unique sensations, the sky of the Cyclades is fantastic. I started to play in different clubs, Thalamy, Aroma caffe’, Koo, Veranda, Downunder and I became resident dj at Radio Paranga. An awesome club on the beach, all made of dark wood. I used to play at Paranga during the day, while at night I used to play after guestDjs at Paradise Club till 9am. I was asked to play in Santorini at the opening of two clubs. Obviously I missed the ferry (it is almost impossible to find a taxi in August!) but I was lucky to find a flight at the last minute. A short flight of 40minutes that took me to another wonderful island of the greek archipelago.
Time went by so quickly. Playing everyday, more than one time per day made me feel the perception of the day in a different way. It was amazing!
The way home was a long travel that lasted 2 days by car. It wasn’t easy to come back to the “ordinary life”. The Italian energy is not vibrant and pulsating.
I had not time to unpack and had some relax… I’d to be at MazdaPalace, for the Subway, and meeting friends I hadn’t seen for so long!!!
Springer/Summer 07 was really amazing @ Monumento Sun Set with the project WE LOVE SUNSETS & MUSIC shared with Paolo Driver.
A six months non stop back to back from 18:00 untill late!!!
On November ELEKTROWAVES was born.
