Darrell Williams, also known as “AMF,” is Michigan’s underground personified. From the very inception of his career, he has been a front-runner in creating and introducing the rough, straightforward Michigan sound that has become infamous around the world.
In the mid 1990s, as Vice-President and one-third owner of the independent Midwest Hip-Hop powerhouse Federation Records, AMF assisted in the signing and prepping of his artists to make the transition from the underground scene, to the international spotlight. Notable acts that have been launched from Federation are: Paradime, SUN, HUSH, Da Brigade (Kon Artis, and Kuniva), and Bizarre from the multi-platinum selling act D12 (Dirty Dozen). Along with prepping these acts, AMF has produced and arranged material for some of them, and numerous others under his “Narcotic Division” production imprint.
In between his label, group, and production responsibilities, AMF has also made a name for himself as a who’s who in the realm of Midwest DJs – Rocking dance floors in numerous club venues Detroit and the metro area. Whether it is hiphop, R&B, Detroit booty music, oldschool or mashups, AMF will rock an unbelievably hot set that will surely get the crowd hyped. He has DJed record release parties (Obie Trice “Cheers”), to DJing parties for MTV cast characters (Svetlana, Don Vito, Yo Mama), to 2 Live Crew shows, to grimey halls on the eastside of Detroit, to spinning for corporate events (Boeing Jet)... Yes, he has done it all!
Right now AMF is currently making remixes and mashups with Mark EP under the name Shanx, the tour DJ for Paradime, producing music for various hiphop artists, and has a weekly residency at Studio 4 in Ann Arbor, MI… Yeah he’s pretty busy. =P
